TPG Architecture LLP, an award-winning New York City-based architecture and design firm, is pleased to reveal that Alejandro Gala has joined the firm as creative director. Gala brings nearly 20 years of industry experience to the role, including a global portfolio spanning the retail, hotel, commercial and building repositioning market sectors. As a versatile designer with a background in architecture and building engineering, Gala will help elevate the firm’s projects by leveraging his international know-how and unique approach to creating one-of-a-kind spaces, according to the firm.
“We are thrilled to have Alejandro Gala join the firm as Creative Director,” said Jim Phillips, founding partner, TPG Architecture. “With a strong background in architecture and a keen eye for detail, Alejandro excels in translating clients’ visions into tangible designs that exceed expectations. His time working and living in several countries will provide TPG and our projects with an extra layer of creativity and influence, weaving his cultural experiences into concepts.”
Having worked and traveled to more than 65 countries, Gala is passionate about immersing himself in different cultures and uses this as the foundation for his designs. After spending many years in places where language presented itself to be a barrier, Gala naturally developed a visual communication skill set that he has since used throughout his career, showcasing design ideas through photos, drawings and graphics. The globetrotter’s design and international background have greatly influenced his completed projects found around the world for such distinguished brands as Adidas, Simon Property Group, Brookfield Properties, Delta Airlines, Microsoft Corporation and Royal Caribbean Cruises. Gala also played a role in the design of a number of properties for New York City-based owners and landlords including ESRT, Vornado, SL Green and Hines.
“I feel incredibly fortunate to be joining TPG and their team of exceptional designers and architects who are shaping the future of the built environment,” said Gala. “Having worked in retail and building repositioning in NYC, I have gained invaluable experience that has prepared me for my new role. I look forward to bringing my cross-industry knowledge and a global perspective to our clients, projects and end-users.”
Before joining TPG, Gala worked as an associate at Gensler and Vocon in NYC and held positions at firms across Spain, Belgium, The Netherlands and China. He holds a Master of Architecture degree from the European University of Madrid and a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Extremadura in Spain.
