Drury Plaza Hotel Mobile opens

Drury Hotels has opened the Drury Plaza Hotel Mobile, the fifth Drury hotel in Alabama. The hotel was built on the site of a former Drury Inn & Suites that stood for almost four decades.

The hotel is located off I-65, with access to Mobile Regional Airport and the future Mobile International Airport, which opens in fall 2026. The hotel is minutes from downtown Mobile, the University of South Alabama and the Mobile Convention Center. Hotel guests enjoy free amenities, including hot breakfast, Drury’s signature 5:30 Kickback, featuring dinnertime snacks and drinks, and WiFi throughout the hotel.

“We are thrilled to welcome guests to the Drury Plaza Hotel Mobile,” said Chuck Drury, CEO, Drury Hotels. “The new hotel makes it easy for travelers to enjoy the best the Gulf Coast has to offer, from historical landmarks and museums to shopping, music and waterfront dining. Our team is ready to provide guests with warm welcomes, making their stays enjoyable with comfortable rooms and award-winning hospitality.”

The property features 186 guestrooms, offering queen, king and suite accommodations. The hotel’s amenities include 24-hour business and fitness centers, and an outdoor pool and spa.

The new hotel fills a need for small- to mid-size meeting options in Mobile with versatile event spaces and the Meetings with More program. It has more than 1,900 sq. ft. of flexible meeting space, including two rooms that can accommodate up to 270 attendees. Meetings with More offers complimentary WiFi for all attendees, no food-and-beverage minimums and a flexible cancellation policy that allows groups to apply a portion of their fee toward a future event at any Drury property.

The new hotel will employ 50 full-time and part-time team members, with GM Kevin Poehler leading the team.
