SB Architects names VP

SB Architects, an internationally renowned architecture firm, has appointed Richard Collings (pictured above) to the role of VP. Collings brings more than two decades of experience in the architectural profession, including a focus on mixed-use projects and master planning. Across his project portfolio—including large-scale, mixed-use planning projects in Egypt, Viacom International Media Networks headquarters in London, renovation work for a world-class The Landmark hotel in Cyprus and hospitality projects in Dubai and Turkey—Collings’ work has been driven by a client-oriented approach and commitment to providing excellent service, along with a passion for sustainability, and genuine focus on team development.

“I was drawn to SB Architects’ entrepreneurial atmosphere and collaborative culture and will instill that same ethos in the London office as we continue to grow,” said Collings. “SB Architects structures itself and runs its projects with an equitable working environment that nurtures teamwork and communication. A place where ideas are supported, individual passions are celebrated, and work/life balance is a reality, not just a goal, SB Architects is evolving in the right direction, and I am honored to join the team as vice president.”

Collings will spearhead the firm’s expanded design capabilities, forge new client relationships and advance business development efforts at the new office in London. Leading talent acquisition efforts as well as project work, Collings’ role at the new location will be instrumental for SB Architects’ strategic growth markets such as the Middle East, Africa and the Mediterranean.

Before joining SB Architects, Collings spent much of his career working with the global design firm WATG, where he progressed from associate to associate VP and advanced the growth of an Urban Architecture studio group as a partner in the London office, helping to lead the company’s move into large-scale urban projects. Prior to WATG, Collings was a designer at the architectural practice, Jacobs Webber in London.

“Richard’s leadership skills and dedication to ensuring the design process is collaborative with clients will strengthen SB Architects in our path forward, and we look forward to delivering more inspiring and impactful properties alongside him,” said SB Architects SVP/Principal, Mark Sopp. “We are excited to see the foundation that Richard will set for the London office, which will be fully integrated into our vision and practice as a firm.”

Collings was born and raised in Bedfordshire, England. He received his post-graduate diploma from The Barlett School of Architecture, University College London.
