Concord Hospitality Enterprises has received Hyatt’s Best New Property Award for its recently opened Hyatt Place Atlanta Perimeter Center in Dunwoody, GA. Concord Hospitality was part of a select group of award recipients at the October Hyatt Americas Owners Conference in Huntington Beach, CA.

Marriott gifts AAHOA $5,000 in honor of Diwali holiday
AAHOA Platinum Industry Partner Marriott International has gifted AAHOA $5,000 in honor of the Diwali holiday.

For all who celebrate, Diwali, the Festival of Lights, is a time to spend with friends and family. The holiday, which symbolizes the victory of good over evil and light over darkness, is also a time of giving.

“AAHOA is very grateful for our partnership with Marriott and for their recognition and acknowledgment of this auspicious occasion, which is often celebrated by giving back to communities and organizations that make a difference in the world,” said Ken Greene, president/CEO, AAHOA. “AAHOA plans to use the generous gift from Marriott to support member programming and AAHOA’s ongoing efforts to be the foremost resource and advocate for our members.”

“Diwali also marks the start of a new year, so it symbolizes a new beginning and a chance to set the right tone for the coming year,” said Vinay Patel, chair, AAHOA. “We exchange gifts and express appreciation toward one another. Marriott’s gift and act of goodwill is a symbol for all that we pray for in the upcoming year—prosperity, good fortune and wisdom.”

ProfitSword partners with Tripleseat
ProfitSword, a developer of business intelligence and data integration software, has finalized a strategic partnership with Tripleseat, a leading innovator of fully comprehensive group sales and catering technology for the hospitality industry. The integration between both companies comes at a time when events and group bookings are rebounding, and provides hoteliers with robust business intelligence abilities to ensure sales strategy alignment for maximum profitability.

Key to the advantages of the ProfitSword and Tripleseat integration is the ability for hoteliers to access all of their business performance data from a single, yet fully inclusive and user-friendly source. With Tripleseat data now automatically uploaded into the ProfitSword database and user interface, hotels can gain crucial insight into how to adapt their event and group sales strategy based on fluctuating demand and where to allocate in order to increase business growth.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) instantly uploaded include analytics on event or group size, room rates, the number of days that a group will be staying and which banquet items have been requested. This ability allows hotels to always have the appropriate amount of inventory on hand to meet upcoming business needs while sidestepping the risk of over-budgeting and unnecessarily spending financial resources.

HotelKey integrates with local legacy property systems to enable a full end-to-end property experience for its customers; provides a training tool that provides in-app UI flows to hotels onboard staff more quickly and significantly reduces training time.

Powershades to outfit Hotel Marcel
PowerShades, a provider of manual and automated window shades for residential, commercial and hospitality applications, has been selected to outfit the Hotel Marcel in New Haven, CT, with more than 900 PoE (Power over Ethernet) automated roller window shades.

The Hilton-branded Hotel Marcel, the nation’s first “net zero” hotel, will feature PowerShades’ automated shades in 165 guestrooms and meeting rooms. The sale includes 468 dual shades (468 blackout shades and 468 solar), as well as 14 single blackouts and 14 single solar shades for a total of 964 PoE motors.

The shades in each guestroom will be controllable by guests in two locations: a touchscreen located near the room entrance, as well as bedside buttons. A central control located at the hotel’s front desk will allow hotel staff to pre-program the shades to open and close at set times, including check-in and checkout. Shades can also be programmed in common areas and meeting rooms to reduce energy costs.

Lutron Electronic launches Code-Smart Guestroom System
Lutron Electronic recently introduced the Code-Smart Guestroom System, an individual guestroom automation solution that supports meeting energy-code requirements while enhancing the guest experience. The system’s intelligent guest-presence detection ensures that HVAC adjusts, and lighting and receptacle controllers de-energize, only when the space is truly unoccupied.

“The Lutron Code-Smart Guestroom System is a complete room control package at a competitive cost—easy to design for the electrical engineer, and easy to install for the contractor with no callbacks, no compromise and no factory startup required,” said Kendell Clark, hospitality product manager, Lutron Electronics. “The key to the system is guest presence detection that preserves the guest experience. Lutron delivers a code-smart solution that supports meeting code while keeping the guest happy.”
