Marriott International in the Caribbean and Latin America (CALA) has revealed strategic changes to its leadership team. Louise Bang, who until now served as regional VP, sales and distribution for the region, will become chief sales and marketing officer, taking over from Diana Plazas-Trowbridge, who advanced her career within the company to the role of SVP/global brand leader, and will now oversee Marriott International’s select-service brands globally.
In her new position, Bang is responsible for driving growth and revenue for the region and leads consumer-facing strategies, including the disciplines of sales, marketing, public relations, brand management and the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program. In addition, she plays a key role in ensuring that the region’s strategies are aligned with the company’s global objectives, driving hotel performance and extending the competitive advantage of Marriott’s portfolio of brands across the region.
“With over 25 years of experience at Marriott, Louise has demonstrated an extraordinary ability to align the needs of our hotels with the preferences of our customers and guests,” said Brian King, president, Marriott International for the Caribbean and Latin America. “Her effort and dedication have resulted in strategies that have maximized both the revenue of our hotels and the satisfaction of our guests. We are delighted to add Louise to our executive team and are confident that her personal and professional qualities make her the ideal person to continue strengthening our presence in the region.”
Bang began a long career with Marriott International in 1996, expanding her experience and skills in the European, U.S. and Canadian regions, holding leadership positions in Marriott’s global sales organization, as well as the company’s luxury segments, focused on The Ritz-Carlton brand. In 2020, she was appointed regional VP, sales and distribution.
