IHG Hotels & Resorts is expanding its use of AI with the launch of a new app within ChatGPT and plans to introduce conversational search capabilities across its digital booking channels.
The company said the new ChatGPT app allows travelers to search, compare and explore IHG’s portfolio. The tool provides hotel recommendations based on traveler preferences and includes real-time availability, pricing, maps and amenities. Once a traveler selects a property, the app directs users to IHG’s booking channels to complete their reservation.
IHG said the integration is designed to complement its existing digital platforms while providing travelers with an additional way to discover hotels and plan trips.
The company also plans to add conversational search to its website and mobile app. The feature will allow guests to search for accommodations using natural language rather than traditional search fields or keywords.
According to IHG, the technology is intended to better understand the intent and context behind traveler searches, helping users move from trip inspiration to booking through a more streamlined experience.
“Guest expectations are evolving quickly, and we’re evolving with them,” said Jolie Fleming, chief product and technology officer, IHG Hotels & Resorts. “With more than one million guests staying with us every night around the world, we’re using AI to make the travel experience more seamless from planning and booking through to their stay. Pairing AI with the warmth of human hospitality ultimately helps us deliver a more exceptional live experience—one that feels personal, responsive and connected to each guest in the moment.”
The new capabilities are part of a broader technology and AI strategy focused on improving the guest experience, supporting hotel performance and advancing innovation across the company.
