Hospitality Cares to Debut Pie in the Face

Hospitality Cares, a not-for-profit organization that benefits professionals in the hospitality industry who are experiencing financial fall-out as a result of the global pandemic, has debuted the Pie In The Face Challenge, beginning on Thursday, Jan. 14th, 2021 at 4pm EST. Tune into IGTV: @hospitalitycares for the premiere of the challenge.

To promote awareness for encouraging donations for unemployed or furloughed professionals, Hospitality Cares invites hotel industry executives to post a video of themselves receiving a pie or whipped cream plate tossed at their face. Participants are then encouraged to invite their colleagues of all levels to participate and share the video content on LinkedIn, Facebook or Instagram with the hashtags: #pieinfacehospitalitycares, #tossapiemakeadonation.

Originally launched in September of 2009, Hospitality Cares was founded to help hospitality professionals recover from the financial crisis of 2008. The non-profit organization extends support to hospitality professionals who have experienced financial challenges through job loss, as well as housing and medical hardships. Through job placement support and monies donated to Hospitality Cares, qualified professionals receive assistance in re-building their businesses and careers within the industry.

Hospitality Cares collaborated with Heather Scott, founder of Studio PROOF Collection, a Dallas-based architectural wares and design consultation company; Cori Walthers, VP of sales/U.S. Commercial of Brintons Americas, a leader in luxury woven carpet; and Jason E. Goldberg, founder of The Gold Standard, a hospitality consulting firm specializing in FF&E asset and project management, to create the inaugural Pie In The Face Challenge.

“The Pie In The Face Challenge is a fun, lighthearted activity intended to lighten the current mood in the hotel industry amid the ongoing news of the global pandemic and nationwide job losses,” said Scott. “We wanted to help uplift the community and raise money for those in need. We hope the campaign directs more people to the Hospitality Cares website to make a donation.”
