Funky furniture

A water dispenser crafted to look like—and from—icons of the New York City skyline and two funky cocktail tables make up this collection of eclectic furniture.

Bien Hecho
The new furniture collection from Bien Hecho, a full-service woodworking shop in Brooklyn, NY, includes a functional water dispenser made of reclaimed cedar and pine from decommissioned water towers.

“Any discussion about New York City’s skyline iconography must include the ubiquitous water tower,” said John Randall, founder/designer, Bien Hecho. “Its form dots the thousands of window vistas throughout the five boroughs. In designing this icon-in-miniature I sought to stay loyal to the individual elements in their representation: lightly hued, slightly conical roof; reclaimed water tower cedar barrel; rolled steel rod straps and angular solid steel base. In paying homage, I also felt its function should be represented and engineered into this piece, that is the dispensing of water.”

Arteriors

All wrapped in natural abaca, a series of winding curves define the organic shape of the Meadow Cocktail Table from Arteriors. A pattern of concentric lines flows over the entire surface, showing off the varied tones of the material.

“Arteriors’ Meadow Cocktail Table takes functional beauty to a new level with its unique organic shape and winding curves,” said Kate Feather, director of design, Arteriors. “Wrapped in natural abaca, our team of in-house designers created the piece to showcase patterns of concentric lines that flow over the entire surface, exhibiting the varied tones and woven texture of the material.”

Bernhardt Hospitality

Bernhardt Hospitality offers a new take on multidimensional design with the Arnette Cocktail Table. Taking its cue from architectural styling, the plinth style base has hidden casters, while the wrapped look of the surfaces showcases a modern look. It features oak solids and quartered oak veneers in a Linear White finish.
