Four New-Build Hotel Projects Are Underway

NATIONAL REPORT—New construction hotel projects abound across the U.S., including a dual-brand in Atlanta, an upscale new-build in NJ, and more. Here’s a look:

Noble Breaks Ground on Courtyard by Marriott & Element by Westin

Noble Investment Group marked the groundbreaking of the Courtyard by Marriott & Element by Westin in Midtown Atlanta. Expected to open in mid-2021, the dual-branded hotel with a combined 282 guestrooms and suites will be the first-ever combination of the Courtyard by Marriott and Element by Westin brands under one roof, according to the company.

The upscale hotels will be located on the southwest corner of the intersection of Peachtree St. and Ponce de Leon Ave. The property will feature nature-inspired spaces, fully equipped kitchens, spa-inspired bathrooms and programs to stay active during the stay.

Briad Group Breaks Ground on Element By Westin

The Element by Westin Wood-Ridge broke ground on June 5 in Wood-Ridge, NJ. Located at 269 & 359 Route 17 South, the upscale lifestyle hotel will accessible to Routes 3, 17 and the NJ Turnpike and will be less than 10 miles from New York City.

The Wood-Ridge location will represent the third Element by Westin in New Jersey and will employee approximately 100 people. It is owned and managed by Briad Lodging Group LLC, the hotel division of Livingston, NJ-based The Briad Group.

Once completed, the hotel will have 125 studios and one-bedroom suites, which will be fully equipped with energy-efficient kitchens, large desks with open shelving, spa-inspired bathrooms and signature Heavenly Beds.

Chartwell Hospitality to Develop Full-­Service Hilton Alpharetta 

Chartwell Hospitality LLC, an integrated hotel operations and development company, revealed the details of Hilton Alpharetta, a 249-room hotel currently under construction in Alpharetta, GA. The full-service hotel is located along the Georgia Highway 400 corridor within the Windward Park mixed-use development and is expected to be completed by early 2021.

Developed and managed by Chartwell Hospitality, the eight-story hotel will offer 6,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space, suites and standard guestrooms, floor-to-ceiling windows and an amenity deck.

Maya Hotels to Develop Hilton Garden Inn

Maya Hotels will be developing a 138-room Hilton Garden Inn in the Steele Creek area of Charlotte, NC. The hotel will be a part of a larger master-planned complex in the Steele Creek area, located at the intersection of Steele Creek Rd. and I-485, Exit 4. Maya Hotels expects to break ground on the project in the first quarter 2020, with an estimated development cost of $150,000 per room.

Maya Hotels also recently completed the development of the Hilton Garden Inn Gastonia/Charlotte West in March 2019. In addition, the company has two hotels under construction in Mooresville, NC: a 120-room Tru by Hilton and a 128-room Aloft. Both properties are scheduled to open in the first half of 2020.
