The Dörr Hotel, which will be located in Sister Bay, WI, and designed by Chicago-based firm Zimmerman Weintraub Associates (ZWA), will have a design inspired by modern Swedish architecture, as well as the hotel’s lush lakeside location.
The four-story, 46-room hotel will include an assortment of suites, as well as private balconies with views out to Sister Bay, and 11 rooms with a private ground level patio with direct access to paths leading down to the bay.
ZWA will tie in welcoming and familiar hygge elements, the Scandinavian concept of home and comfort, with cool, neutral tones balanced by warm, natural wood finishes and richly textured materials that will evoke the feel of the surrounding natural elements. Guests and visitors will be greeted by a ground-level green courtyard that will blur the boundary of interior and exterior, enhancing the local natural beauty. Designed to evoke a welcoming gathering place for guests and locals alike, the hotel will offer a rooftop patio nestled between two guest wings of the hotel with striking views of Sister Bay and Lake Michigan. An ideal setting to host small gatherings, mingle with hotel guests, or to kick back and relax around the crackling outdoor fireplace, the The Dörr Hotel’s rooftop is an amenity that will delight guests throughout the seasons.
