DMAC adds senior interior designer

Pamela Johnson, LEED, NCIDQ, has officially joined DMAC Architecture as senior interior designer, operating out of the DMAC office outside of Chicago. Johnson brings a diverse and multidisciplinary background to the award-winning design team, with a creative style that uniquely blends her passion for art and painting with her extensive experience in the fields of architecture, civil engineering and construction management across a wide array of project typologies. Her inspired and highly considered approach to problem solving through design will further strengthen DMAC’s commitment to bringing a forward-thinking perspective to the built environment.

“As our firm continues to expand its reach and scope, we’re thrilled to welcome Pamela to the practice—her multifaceted background across both the technical and creative sides of the architecture business will be a major asset on all of our current and future work, and will continue to position us as a powerful design partner within the industry,” said Dwayne MacEwen, founder/creative director, DMAC.

With a portfolio of projects primarily in the workplace sector—including building lobbies and amenity spaces in high-end law firms, science labs and police stations—Johnson looks forward to translating her expertise in curating experience-based environments into thoughtful hospitality and commercial spaces for DMAC’s expansive roster. Currently, she is actively involved in a number of the team’s ongoing gaming and entertainment interiors projects, as well as work for a luxury airport lounge.

Johnson is eager to continue drawing inspiration for her work from the rich art scene of Chicago and its culturally diverse landscape, while leveraging her knowledge as a LEED certified designer to the variety of projects she will take on at the firm. She firmly believes in allowing clients to make informed decisions when it comes to environmental responsibility and sustainability, saying, “Being a responsible designer, it’s important to keep the environment in mind. Everything we do is so impactful, the more we are making educated decisions and doing the right thing is a critical component of designing each project.”
