BDNY returns with new experiences

This fall, Boutique Design New York (BDNY), a trade fair and conference for boutique hospitality and lifestyle interiors, makes a return to Manhattan’s Javits Center. Held Nov. 13-14, the annual gathering invites architects, interior designers, owner/operators, purchasing agents, hoteliers and restaurateurs, developers, brands, students and creatives to experience meaningful interaction and be inspired by the latest in offerings from top-rated manufacturers and artisans. The expo of 550+ exhibitors will present a curated mix of products for hospitality, including hotels, boutique lodging and lifestyle properties; resorts; spas and wellness; cafés, restaurants and bars; private clubs; senior living; health and fitness; amenity spaces; and more.

A highlight of the experience is BDNY’s unveiling of its signature Designed Spaces. Created by major interior and architecture teams and hospitality companies, the spaces rely on products from BDNY exhibitors and sponsors as sources for inspiration, design and concept. Designed Spaces allow attendees to see curated design elements in the context of lounges, cafes and gathering spaces throughout the Fair.

Teams and sponsors for this year’s creations:

Revive By Element (#325)
Whole living meets New York’s freshly reimagined (or emergent) West Side, connecting Element and the personality of nearby Hudson Yards. Element’s “Revive” narrative draws on the physical origins of the midtown locale with the brand’s distinctive ties to wellness and a sustainable Nordic-inspired aesthetic. With design by The Society, lighting design by Within Light Studio, and products sourced from premier BDNY manufacturers, the space is activated with panel discussions and talks, and also serves as a hub for conversations and experiential engagement.

ReWild By Westin (#524)
Appealing to our need to connect with nature, this unique space is guided by the premise of well-being. Westin’s design philosophy takes inspiration from this idea of connection, and highlights biophilia. Rich textural details and soft nuanced palettes are offset by a clean, modern residential aesthetic. Together, these elements create an immersive experience of renewal in hope that guests will be recharged and recentered. Designers EoA devised the concept and look of this contemplative and relaxing space for lounging and imbibing, and featuring sessions and talks related to brand touchpoints and how they impact travel.

Better-Verse by DLR Group (#2637)
In navigating the meta-universe and the physical world, our desire to feel secure and comforted is a reality. The aptly named Better-Verse space, by DLR Group, looks to a secret garden as the source of inspiration. Using different “times,” the garden at night and screen time and contrasting digital experiences with real life, this space highlights the need to design for the way people live and want to live optimally. The team relied on natural and earthen elements, rich colors and varied textures in a physical domain for the senses, impacted by the virtual landscape.

Posta by WorldHotels Crafted Collection (#1959)
Inspired by the mix of residential charm and distinct cosmopolitan style of Argentina and the allure of its rural Estancia, Posta celebrates the best of the country’s culture, combining modernist style, polo and leisure. Using materials influenced by Buenos Aires and beyond, the EDG design team created a sublime and upscale space. Highlights include the Champagne bar and stable club lounge that rely on a mix of outdoor and old-world-inspired furnishings, certain to captivate visitors for formal and informal conversations.
