//3877 has relocated the brand’s main headquarters in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, DC. Located on 3299 K St. NW Suite 300, the new office brings the talented roster of designers and architects into a space that primes the team for continued growth and innovation, according to the firm. The multidisciplinary firm’s internal design team led the full custom renovation, capturing the group’s localized perspective and community-driven ethos in the built environment. In tandem with the office completion and opening, //3877 unveils a fully redesigned website—a refreshed digital experience showcasing the firm’s extensive portfolio and service offerings with cheeky nods to the fun, eclectic character of the team.
“With the increase in talent across our architectural and design teams came the need for additional space to work and collaborate, sparking the idea for us to fully deck-out a custom office that emulates who we are as a firm,” said //3877 Partner David Shove-Brown. “The resulting space celebrates our team’s spirit and accomplishments while anticipating all that’s to come in the future.”
In recent years, //3877 has worked tirelessly toward the evolution of the practice, tackling different project types and experiencing exponential growth through the hire of 14 team members in just three years. Materialized by the minds at //3877, the company’s refreshed office is team-centric, capturing the firm’s design ethos in every detail. Previously home to a paper mill along the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal, the space’s high ceiling and exposed concrete structures provided a timeless and industrial blank canvas with a light and airy feel at its foundation.
Curating dynamic work environments was a key consideration throughout the design of the new headquarters—the space features a variety of conference rooms outfitted with the latest technology, suited for both client meetings and spontaneous opportunities for internal collaboration. A library and studio are located towards the back with an open atmosphere to encourage interaction, engagement and communication between team members.
Wallcoverings by Astek and flooring sourced from Tarkett blankets the space in neutral white, gray and black hues, allowing the art and project materials in the space, including furniture from Poppin, to stand out. A mural depicting the evolving nature of DC and its streetscapes by Kelly Towles, a local DC artist, designer and longtime friend of //3877, adds additional color and whimsy to the space, sparking creativity and imagination.
A nod to the classic concept, the “kitchen is the heart to the home,” the center of the 7,000-sq. ft. office space features a large kitchen allowing the 50-person team to come together for a snack, a celebration or even a draft beer on tap during happy hour. Reflective of //3877’s hospitality-first design culture, the kitchen features Cosentino stone counters and backsplash, highlighting the front of the office and providing a setting for social interaction among coworkers. A flexible, contiguous space that blends comfort and sophistication, //3877’s new workplace brings each stakeholder together under one roof—whether it be the internal teams, clients or potential partners.
The workplace isn’t the only “site” that’s new for //3877—alongside the office move, the team is launching an updated website, with both new and familiar faces. Intended to elevate and showcase the firm’s projects, the website captures the personality of Cofounders David Tracz and David Shove-Brown as well as the culture that makes their firm stand out in the industry. In addition to matching the artistic vision of //3877’s work, the new website expands upon the firm’s design process, illustrating a group of spirited creatives united in their passion for architecture and design.
