Web Exclusive: A fresh coastal look for Sirata Beach Resort

Sirata Beach Resort has finished a $25 million renovation of its 228 guestrooms and suites, setting the stage for its transition into Hilton’s Tapestry Collection. The redesign brings a new look to the longtime St. Pete Beach property while preserving the coastal character that has defined the resort for generations.

GM Brad Cochran said the rebrand was a driving force behind the project. “The resort will rebrand as a Tapestry by Hilton,” he said. “These boutique hotels are known for their vibrant local flavor and authentic experiences. The transition to a branded resort led to a refresh of the guestrooms and suites to reflect the sun-kissed climate, white sand beaches, calm waves and gentle breezes where generations of families have been vacationing since the 1960s.”

Sirata King RoomThe updated accommodations follow a design philosophy rooted in relaxed minimalist warmth. Cochran said the goal was to create spaces shaped by “subdued profiles balanced against the strength of solid forms and bold shapes with impressive beauty, clean lines and understated color contrasts.”

Natural light plays a central role, filling rooms finished in sandy neutrals with accents “reflected in the art, with ochre, terracotta and blue grays with ocean tones anchored by sun bleached white walls.” He said the mix of natural wood and sea glass and the inclusion of textured and woven pieces were intentionally chosen as “thoughtfully curated artistic focal points.”

Every element was selected to reinforce the connection to the Gulf Coast. “Every design decision at Sirata Beach Resort is meant to evoke the brilliance of the sun and serene beach vibes,” he said, describing a setting defined by white sand beaches and sunsets that turn the horizon gold and violet. He said the new look is meant to help guests “embrace the rhythm of the tides, the beauty of vibrant sunsets and the gentle embrace of the ocean breeze.”

The GM said the design also acknowledges Sirata’s history as a simple, welcoming retreat. He referenced a story of an early traveler who was inspired by the natural beauty of the property and envisioned a place where guests could reconnect with the basics: the warmth of the sun, the sound of the waves and peace at the water’s edge. “That environment is preserved,” he said, even as the rooms now incorporate new furnishings, updated finishes and amenities designed for today’s travelers.

Those amenities are central to the user experience. The refreshed rooms include larger bathrooms with walk-in showers and extra storage as well as outlets and USB ports placed for convenience. Beds are dressed in cotton-rich linens with plush pillows. Cochran said each room is “designed for optimal rest and productivity” and includes high-speed WiFi, a desk with a well-lit workspace, plug-in panels and a 55-inch TV with the Hilton Entertainment Package. An in-room coffee bar and both back-lit and full-length mirrors round out the updates.

The redesign of the resort, which is owned and managed by Columbia Sussex, extends to public spaces as well. “The renovated lobby introduces the new design and color palette to guests the moment they check in,” Cochran said. He added that the fitness center has been “completely renovated with new equipment,” bringing its look in line with the refreshed rooms.

The resort continues to offer beachfront dining, a beachfront bar, a swimming pool, cabanas, volleyball courts, watersports and daily fitness classes along with games and weekly entertainment. The property’s 30,000 sq. ft. of flexible meeting space provides indoor and outdoor settings, including two ballrooms, breakout rooms, a beachfront tent pavilion and open-air decks. For groups that need additional capacity, the adjacent Sirata Beach Hotel offers another 125 rooms.

With Phase I complete, the focus now turns to the next stage of work. “Phase II will include renovations, upgrades and redesign of the resort’s beachside pool and restaurants,” Cochran said. Once finished, the property will finalize its move into Hilton’s Tapestry Collection, completing a transition that blends a renewed design identity with the long-standing spirit of the St. Pete Beach shoreline.
