Trestle Studio acquires Lakeway Resort & Spa

Trestle Studio has acquired Lakeway Resort & Spa, a landmark waterfront resort set on an 11-acre peninsula along the shores of Lake Travis in Travis County, TX. The boutique real estate investment and development firm acquired the property in partnership with Sopris Capital.

Originally opened in 1963 as the first resort of its kind in the Lakeway community, Trestle Studio plans to restore and reposition the 168-room property as a boutique destination experience that celebrates its lakeside setting, deep community roots and legacy within Texas Hill Country hospitality, according to the company.

The resort offers access to more than 65 miles of shoreline and a range of water-based recreation, while remaining within close proximity to championship golf courses, wineries, downtown Austin and a 40-minute drive to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

“There are very few properties where the sense of place is so profound,” said Jake Lamstein, founder, Trestle Studio. “Lakeway Resort & Spa is one of them. Its relationship to Lake Travis, to the landscape, to the story of this community—that’s what drew us to this acquisition. Travis County and the city of Lakeway are making serious investments in their cultural and civic future, and we intend to meet that ambition with a restoration that honors what this property has always meant to the people who love it.”

The property will undergo a comprehensive renovation and modernization of its guestrooms, spa and wellness offerings, food and beverage programming and club amenities. Planned enhancements will focus on elevating the guest experience through thoughtful design; refreshing the more than 24,000 sq. ft. of flexible indoor and outdoor gathering spaces; the redevelopment of locally driven culinary concepts; and expanded wellness and recreational programming.
