Three properties under new management

Hotel Equities, Indigo Road Hospitality Group and Playa Hotels and Resorts have all recently expanded their portfolios of managed properties.

Hotel Equities selected to manage The Atlantic Hotel and Spa
Owner, operator and developer Hotel Equities (HE) was selected as the new management firm to operate luxury property The Atlantic Hotel & Spa in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The hotel is the newest addition to Hotel Equities’ recently launched lifestyle division. The property is owned by Atlantic Hotel Assets LLC.

“Our investments into the lifestyle and resort segments in terms of both people and infrastructure have resulted in HE’s appointment to manage this unique property,” said Brad Rahinsky, president/CEO, HE. “We’re thrilled to engage in operations having quickly found alignment with owners in both vision and future goals for the Atlantic.”

The property is a 124-room boutique hotel, including ocean and city view studios as well as suites and penthouses with kitchenettes and separate living space. Amenities include an oceanfront terrace, a rooftop bar (SKY Bar) and pool, on-site dining at the Wild Thyme Oceanside Eatery, and spa and salon treatments at Spa Atlantic. Complimentary beach cruisers are also available. The hotel also offers 4,000 sq. ft. of flexible meeting space.

IRHG adds Snowbird Mountain Lodge to portfolio
The Indigo Road Hospitality Group (IRHG) has acquired Snowbird Mountain Lodge in Robbinsville, NC, and assumed management of the property. IRHG partnered with Madison Capital Group LLC, a private investment and advisory firm; and JPW Development, a boutique private real estate firm, on the acquisition. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

“Accompanying Skyline Lodge and The Flat Iron Hotel, Snowbird Mountain Lodge marks Indigo Road’s third property in North Carolina,” said Larry Spelts, president, Lodging & Lifestyle Adventures, The Indigo Road. “As we grow our portfolio of unique, experience-driven properties, we are particularly drawn to those where we believe we can add value and deliver our high-touch hospitality. Snowbird was spellbinding from the moment we saw the historic lodge and its majestic views of the Smoky Mountains.”

The Main Lodge was built in 1940–1941 for Arthur Wolfe, a travel agent, and his brother, Edwin, a realtor and builder. Over the years, Snowbird has had 10 owners. Before selling the property to The Indigo Road, Robert Rankin and his wife, Mandy, owned the property and completed many of Snowbird’s upgrades and additions.

Since its inception, the Main Lodge has undergone several major renovations, including the addition of a new heating and air system, new windows, new wiring and plumbing pipes, new exterior siding, the dining terrace and bathroom upgrades. Several cottages have been added to the property over the years. The Forest Chapel, Snowbird’s newest building, is designed for the privacy of two, or to share a celebration with up to 60 people.

Playa Hotels & Resorts now managing Seadust Cancun Family Resort
Playa Hotels & Resorts NV has entered into an agreement to assume the management of the Seadust Cancun Family Resort in Mexico. Playa will manage all operations, sales and marketing of the resort.

Situated along the white sand beaches of the Cancun Hotel Zone, the 502-room resort features 10 restaurants and bars, a fitness center and a full-service holistic spa.

“We are thrilled to welcome Seadust Cancun Family Resort to the Playa family,” said Fernando Mulet, EVP/chief investment officer, Playa Hotels & Resorts. “Cancun is a competitive market with a high barrier of entry and often limited opportunity for less seasoned operators. The execution of this management agreement exemplifies Playa’s proficiency as a management company and is further evidence of the value and profitability that only Playa’s business model and expertise can deliver.”
