The 149-room luxury hotel that formerly was The Pendry West Hollywood has reopened as The Sun Rose West Hollywood, a member of Preferred Hotels & Resorts‘ L.V.X. Collection. The hotel takes its name from its, jewel-box music venue and sits on the site of the original House of Blues
The Martin Brudnizki-designed property featured the aforementioned music venue, now named Live at The Sun Rose, as well as a restaurant helmed by Chef Wolfgang Puck and a rooftop bar.
The hotel will also feature curated new experiences, partnerships and select amenities in the coming months, which will be devised by Adam Blackstone, who serves in the newly created role of property-wide creative director. Blackstone has served as music director for Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Alicia Keys, Maroon 5, Jay-Z and Eminem.
“From the first moment I stepped onto the stage, The Sun Rose felt like home,” said Blackstone. “Over the past three years, we’ve organically cultivated a space where music legends and rising stars can share the spotlight, leading to some of the most talked about, viral performances in Los Angeles. I look forward to the opportunity to enhance the cultural resonance of both the music venue and the hotel in my new role.”
The hotel’s entryway includes a black-and-white checkered piazza and a tree sculpture, ‘Sunset Jewel,’ adjacent to the hotel entrance by Cao Perrot Studio. The emerald-lacquered lobby features the large-scale, geometric ‘Portal Icosahedron’ by London artist Anthony James.
The 149 guestrooms, including 37 suites, feature brass accents, Art Deco–inspired lighting, plush headboards and artwork. Amenities include a second-floor spa and a range of flexible meeting and event spaces, including a 2,300-sq.-ft. ballroom and outdoor Garden Terrace. There is also a rose pink, 2,840-sq.-ft. bowling alley and a residential-style screening room.
