The Gallery Inspires

The Blake Hotel in New Haven, CT, recently unveiled The Gallery, a space designed to inspire guests with ongoing art exhibits, educational talks and workshops.

The first exhibit, curated by Kehler Liddell Gallery (KLG), a collective gallery based in New Haven, that partnered with the hotel, is “Winter Garden.” Winter Garden includes more than 20 local artists and their work in the newly appointed space on the 6th floor of the hotel, which has been dedicated to the arts.

“The Blake Hotel had a great white space that was underutilized adjacent to our beautiful rooftop restaurant and bar called High George, and it was always our mission to a) integrate local art and artists into our new boutique hotel (we just turned one-year-old) and b) to activate different spaces in our hotel with cultural and educational events, workshops, talks, exhibits, performances and more,” said Randy Salvatore, CEO, RMS Companies, owner of The Blake Hotel.

The “Winter Garden” theme was inspired by the hotel’s rooftop terrace, which is transformed during winter months with unique warm seasonal dishes and drinks that reflect comfort and artistry.

Salvatore said that The Gallery fits naturally with the design of the rest of the property. “The Gallery and original artwork complement the unique design of our hotel twofold. We are updating and curating new exhibits seasonally to coincide with the transition of our rooftop restaurant and bar theme and to continuously provide new experiences for guests and the community. We also partnered with a local gallery to curate permanent pieces that enhance the entire ‘guest journey’ from the arrival experience into our lobby/lounge to the 6th floor where The Gallery, High George and our meeting spaces reside. The Blake Hotel was mindfully designed to delight our guests every which way they turn from the artistic details to the personalized service,” he said.
