Beemok Hospitality Collection has opened The Cooper, a 191-room hotel on Charleston’s harbor. The property includes 25 suites, multiple dining venues, a marina, spa and more than 20,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space.
Designed by Champalimaud Design, the hotel incorporates Lowcountry influences throughout its public spaces and accommodations. The lobby features a staircase of white oak and stone with iron balustrades, along with hand-painted mural elements and patterned stone flooring that reference regional craftsmanship.
Guestrooms are designed with a residential aesthetic, featuring neutral color palettes, wide-plank light oak floors and shiplap wall paneling. Basket-weave textures appear throughout as a recurring design element. Many rooms include Juliette balconies or patios, offering views of the harbor or Charleston skyline.
The hotel introduces four dining concepts led by Executive Chef Nick Dugan. The Crossing serves as the signature restaurant, offering Mediterranean-inspired cuisine with local ingredients in a waterfront setting designed by Meyer Davis. The space includes multiple dining environments, including The Captain’s Lounge and a chef’s table experience.
Additional outlets include CurrentBurger, a casual concept serving items such as smash burgers, fries, fountain sodas and milkshakes, with a walk-up takeaway window adjacent to Waterfront Park. Cooper Coffee & Wine operates as an all-day café transitioning into a wine bar in the evening, while Bar Marti is a guest-only, fourth-floor poolside venue offering light fare and cocktails.
Amenities are centered on the waterfront location and include a private marina with a fleet of vessels available for guest use, including a Hinckley yacht and custom Scout boats. The outdoor experience also includes an infinity pool with lounge seating, daybeds and cabanas, supported by food and beverage service from Bar Marti.
The Cooper’s 7,000-sq.-ft. spa includes seven treatment rooms and a range of wellness offerings such as red light therapy, cryotherapy loungers, experiential showers and a Sanarium sauna. A 24-hour fitness center is equipped with Escape HIT Rack, Assault Air Runner and TechnoGym machines, with plans to expand programming to include private training and classes.
Meeting and event facilities include a 4,000-sq.-ft. Grand Lawn for outdoor events, a 5,655-sq.-ft. ballroom with harbor views, a salon accommodating smaller groups and a boardroom with river views.
The hotel is part of the BHC portfolio and offers a dual-property experience with access to The Charleston Place. Guests also have access to additional outlets within the portfolio, including Sorelle and American Gardens.
