STRATOSPHERE SENDS ROOM DESIGN TO NEW HEIGHTS

Las Vegas’ Stratosphere hotel—with its 1,149-ft-tall tower—recently completed a makeover of its guestrooms with the aptly named Elevate series. The first phase of the remodel, comprising three floors totaling 252 rooms, include remodeled decor, new furniture and new amenities.

“Stratosphere is world-famous for its iconic Observation Tower in the Las Vegas skyline,” said Suzanne Couture, VP of interior design at Friedmutter Group. “The palette for the rooms was inspired by the blue of the sky and the gray of the clouds that provide the backdrop for Stratosphere and so much of the beauty of the views from the top of the Observation Tower. Shades of blue and silver hues bring relaxation and comfort to the rooms—like you are resting in the clouds. That palette is complemented by contemporary design, modern amenities and state-of-the-art conveniences.”

The firm also incorporated technology and efficiency into the new design with features such as a halo-lit custom headboard, integrated storage cubbies in the beds, and integral charging stations equipped with USB ports on each of the side tables.

“Technology is an important factor to today’s hotel guest—it’s become an intricate part of our daily lives,” she said. “Whether you’re in Las Vegas for work, fun or both, these new rooms support all of your technological needs. There are ample charging stations on both sides of the bed and at the desks, plus the televisions are equipped with the latest technology to sync devices and personalize customer service. The WiFi speed ensures that these rooms are equipped to serve as a remote office. For us, it was about combining convenience and efficiency in a comfortable, yet modern setting.”

A fully upholstered bedframe, housing the new mattress and box spring, matches the custom bed cushions in midnight blue velvet.

The bathroom has also been completely redesigned for efficiency, comfort and practicality, with new wood and a translucent pocket door for privacy. A new built-in vanity includes face-lit mirrors with a warm LED glow, an integrated sink and faucet, and a shelf above the counter. New walk-in showers, lined with large format porcelain tile with modern shower glass walls, and upgraded fixtures finish the clean, contemporary design of the restrooms.
