Stonebridge has added Rich Cortese as special advisor to the Caribbean region.
He joins Stonebridge in a strategic advisory capacity, bringing more than three decades of hands-on experience in Caribbean development, operations and asset management to the firm’s growing presence in the region.
Over the course of his career, he has overseen several Caribbean resort properties. He previously served as EVP at Caribbean Property Group, managing a $750 million portfolio that included the Ritz-Carlton San Juan, Marriott Aruba, Radisson San Juan, the Normandie Hotel and a portfolio of Courtyard by Marriott properties. Earlier in his career, he led operations at resorts including the El San Juan, El Conquistador and Conrad Plaza in Puerto Rico, as well as Wyndham properties across the Caribbean.
“Rich is an unmatched resource in the Caribbean hotel space, and we’re fortunate to have him advising our team as we continue building out our footprint in the region,” said Rob Smith, CEO, Stonebridge. “With my own two decades of experience in the Caribbean and Marco Selva leading our luxury and resort platform, Rich’s insight and relationships will strengthen our offering to owners seeking operational excellence and regional expertise.”
The company recently opened a Miami office led by Selva, SVP, business development and operations, luxury and lifestyle.
“I’m excited to collaborate with Rich as we continue to expand Stonebridge’s presence in the Caribbean,” said Selva. “His extensive experience and deep relationships in the region complement our strategy perfectly. Together, we’ll be able to provide owners with a uniquely well-rounded, hands-on approach that blends strategic insight, operational excellence, and regional understanding.”
Cortese added, “I’ve worked with many hotel management companies, and Stonebridge stands out for its entrepreneurial culture, hands-on leadership, and tailored approach to each property and owner. The Caribbean is an exciting, evolving market—and I’m thrilled to be working with Rob, Marco and the team as they bring Stonebridge’s capabilities to a broader set of owners and investors in the region.”
