SONOMA CHIC

Hyatt Regency Sonoma Wine Country has debuted a rustic-chic sanctuary set on eight acres, with 90 additional guestrooms and a complete redesign of 40,000 sq. ft. of event spaces, the lobby and all other public areas.

In the heart of Sonoma in Downtown Santa Rosa’s Historic Railroad Square, the property brings a casually elegant and locally driven destination to wine country. Headed by Looney & Associates, Hyatt’s new design features earthy colors and textures and natural accents.

As part of the rebrand, the new Hyatt Regency name is the company’s upper-upscale brand. Hyatt Regency will also launch the new Brasserie restaurant later this month, with Sonoma County influenced farm-to-fire dishes alongside custom barrel aged cocktails and a list of wines by the glass and bottles.

“The use of natural colors plus textures reflect the authentic appreciation for the land, rolling hillsides and striking sunsets. With an organic blend of soft neutrals, warm woods and natural accents, they captured the modern, casual elegance of the region,” said Kelly Spitzer of Looney & Associates.

The lobby showcases timeless interior design with handcrafted details, rustic touches and eclectic layering of wood tones, brushed metals and woven textures. As an extension of the lobby, the function spaces are also distinctive and inviting with bronze, iron and seeded glass.

Reclaimed Sonoma barnwood was used for the reception desk, bar and fireplace, while the new concrete flooring gives the lobby a rustic, modern finish. Unique, bespoke furnishings include roughhewed woods, metal accents and are finished with natural textiles and raw leathers.

The suites highlight warm tones of olive, wheat and linen while the guestrooms combine soft gold and cream colors intended to represent the splendor and comfort of the autumn countryside. The carpet patterns reflect timeless, casual wovens of tweed, linen and twill, Spitzer said. In addition, the artwork highlights the surrounding Agrarian lifestyle.

The hotel also has extensive meeting and event spaces, including 15 indoor meeting rooms totaling 18,000 sq. ft.; and an additional 20,000 sq. ft. of outdoor space accompanied by an 80-ft. long water wall ideal for weddings and special events.

Meticulously designed, the Hyatt Regency Sonoma Wine Country property offers a sanctuary where guests can relax poolside under a grapevine covered arbor, sip wine under the stars beside a 10-ft. crystal fire pit or enjoy the manicured floral gardens.

“Inspired by the ease of Sonoma’s quintessential lifestyle, we embraced the relaxed, slower side of life,” Spitzer said. “We wanted to create an effortlessly chic Sonoma retreat with timeless interior, hand crafted details and rustic touches.”
