Sonesta International Hotels Corporation has appointed Bob Gunkel as its new CFO.
“We welcome Bob Gunkel to Sonesta and look forward to leveraging his 25 years of experience leading financial operations within the hospitality industry,” said John Murray, president/CEO, Sonesta. “As an accomplished financial executive at both large public and small private companies, Bob has the comprehensive experience, problem solving and analytical skills and strong work ethic that we believe will help fuel and sustain Sonesta’s growth.”
Gunkel has most recently been an adjunct professor of finance at Georgia State University in Atlanta, where he taught corporate finance to MBA and master of finance graduate students. Among many notable achievements, he was previously CFO for the Americas region for IHG, where he was responsible for a portfolio of 4,300 franchised, managed, owned and joint-venture hotels. In addition, he has held senior positions in asset management, financial planning and analysis, hotel development and financial reporting.
