Aimbridge Hospitality has a new chief legal officer, while RobertDouglas, Interstate Hotels & Resorts and OTA Insight have also made personnel moves.

Aimbridge names Mark Chloupek chief legal officer
Aimbridge Hospitality has appointed legal executive and industry veteran Mark Chloupek to the role of chief legal officer.

“We welcome Mark to our executive leadership team in this invaluable role of providing strategic legal leadership,” said Michael J. Deitemeyer, president/CEO, Aimbridge. “As Aimbridge continues to evolve, it is critical for us to have an experienced executive like Mark who will assist us in navigating growth opportunities.”

Chloupek brings 23 years of experience in hospitality with companies ranging from ownership and management to franchising, including eight years as general counsel for public companies. He most recently served as EVP, secretary and general counsel of CorePoint Lodging, where he oversaw all legal and related matters of the company, corporate governance, strategic transactions, executive compensation, risk management and litigation. He also led the sale of CorePoint to a joint venture between Highgate and Cerberus Capital Management.

Prior to CorePoint Lodging, Chloupek served as EVP, secretary and general counsel of La Quinta Holdings, where he led the company’s initial public offering and its subsequent spinoff in 2018, resulting in the publicly traded CorePoint Lodging REIT. Earlier in his career, he served as chief counsel of operations for Wyndham International, where he provided critical legal advice and oversight in the sale of Wyndham International to affiliates of The Blackstone Group.

Matt Dower joins RobertDouglas
Matt Dower, a 15-year veteran of the hotel industry, has joined RobertDouglas as managing director in the firm’s new Chicago office. In this role, he will be involved in every aspect of the firm’s business, from investment sales to structured financing and joint venture equity raises.

He joins RobertDouglas from Berkadia, a joint venture of Berkshire Hathaway and Jefferies Financial Group, where he spent the last seven-plus years as managing director and director of operations for the national Hotels & Hospitality team. During his tenure, he gained niche expertise in handling complicated multi-tranched equity and debt transactions, specializing in specific capital sources for hotel assets. He has structured and closed more than 100 transactions representing more than $1 billion of commercial real estate.

Interstate promotes Malcolm Allan
Malcolm Allan, a 30-year industry veteran, has been promoted from GM of the AC Hotel in Belfast, Ireland, to the role of director of operations and quality at Interstate Hotels & Resorts.

Allan, who started his career as a trainee manager in hotels straight from college, has worked his way up through a number of management roles within the hotels he has worked for and eventually became a GM in 2005.

He has worked across brands including Holiday Inn, Marriott, Accor and Hilton, and joined Interstate in 2018 as GM within the U.K. and European portfolio before joining the AC in Belfast.

OTA Insight expands North American leadership team
OTA Insight, a provider of cloud-based hospitality business intelligence serving more than 55,000 hotels in 185 different countries, has named Bethany Demeter global revenue operations director; Brett Kohn chief marketing officer; and Stephanie Matchus director of sales, North and South America.

All three roles will be based at the company’s U.S. headquarters in Denver. These strategic hires will play a key role in positioning OTA Insight for continued rapid growth in North America and across the globe, according to the company.

Demeter has 15 years of experience in the revenue operations space, bringing perspective from corporate and scale-up environments. She has built and developed dynamic teams to execute against cross-functional initiatives, scaling infrastructure and building operational tools to achieve growth targets.

Kohn brings more than 20 years of experience in industry leading marketing and strategy organizations. With a career spanning senior leadership positions in both enterprise and startup environments, he has extensive expertise in developing successful teams and growing technology businesses, according to the company. He will lead OTA Insight’s global marketing to help fuel the next stage of growth.

Matchus joins OTA Insight with more than 20 years of sales and leadership experience in startup and high growth technology companies. She has a track record of delivering results and building market share in rapidly changing environments, according to OTA Insight. She will focus on OTA Insight’s continued growth through the Americas sales team.
