NewcrestImage, Canterbury JV Opens First Property

The first joint venture between Dallas-based NewcrestImage and Portland, OR-based Canterbury Hotel Group has opened a Hyatt House in downtown Beaverton, OR.

“The opening of this Hyatt House is powerful testimony that hoteliers continue to provide the best of hotel experiences even during challenging travel times,” said Mehul Patel, chairman/CEO of NewcrestImage. “We’ve created a property that is safe, comfortable and special—where travelers can rest easy after a tough day on the road.”

Arvind Patel, CEO of Canterbury Hotel Group, added, “New vaccines are giving all of us realistic hope for a return to safety and a return to travel. Our new property combines the comfort and style of home, with the convenience of a hotel, so guests can feel calm and cozy surrounded by the very best in creature comforts and in socially-distanced service.”

Among the Hyatt House’s 125 guestrooms are 13 apartment-style suites with fully equipped kitchens and separate living rooms. Other hotel amenities include two indoor lounges; an outdoor patio and BBQ area; a 635-sq.-ft. meeting room; and a mini-market and a gym, both open 24 hours.

The new hotel is located in the heart of downtown Beaverton, close to a variety of business and leisure travel destinations, as well as to shopping, entertainment and dining, such as the BG Food Cartel, a food cart pod with 31 food carts, a speakeasy bar and an event venue.

Also close are City Hall and the 550-seat Patricia Reser Center for the Arts, scheduled to open later this year. Corporate headquarters near the Hyatt House include Nike, Reser’s Fine Foods and Leupold & Stevens.
