MIG’s Sussan P. Harshbarger retires

Sussan P. Harshbarger, chief legal officer/managing director of Germantown, TN-based McNeill Investment Group (MIG), has retired.

A veteran transaction attorney with more than 30 years of experience in corporate and commercial real estate matters, Harshbarger has worked for many years with McNeill family business and real estate entities, in addition to joining MIG two years ago in the position she is departing. In those roles, she was instrumental in the company’s initial formation and subsequent growth as well as its strategic recapitalization efforts in 2018 and 2022; and the restructuring of MIG into a premier hospitality investment management company. She remains an active investor in MIG.

Prior to formally joining MIG, she worked in private practice, including as counsel to the McNeill family of companies, where she worked with the McNeill executive team for their capital raises, acquisitions, financing, structuring, development and related real estate activities.

“Since the beginning of McNeill Hotel Company in 2014, I have worked with some very talented and visionary people,” said Harshbarger. “I was honored to be an integral part of the team at McNeill Investment Group, LLC and all of its predecessors, affiliates, and subsidiaries. I feel that we have completed the mandate that I was primarily brought in-house to help accomplish, which was to reorganize our hospitality corporate structure to poise us for the growth and expansion of the McNeill umbrella of companies and services.”

Chris Ropko, managing director/CEO, MIG, added, “Sussan is an outstanding human being with exceptional experience and capabilities. She has been instrumental in the growth and success of McNeill Hotel Company and McNeill Investment Company, working closely with Philip McNeill, Jr., Mark Ricketts, myself and all of the other MIG executives.”
