Plamondon Companies has appointed Matthew Zappone as CFO. He spent the last 25 years at Marriott International in various finance and accounting department roles.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Matthew to the leadership team,” said Peter Plamondon Jr., co-owner, Plamondon Companies. “He possesses the skills needed to drive a successful organization, and he also brings an ability to nurture relationships with stakeholders and his own team members, which will be a vital part of the growth and success of the company.”
Plamondon Companies includes Plamondon Hospitality Partners, which owns and operates 16 Marriott, Hilton and IHG properties across Maryland, Pennsylvania and Georgia. This third-generation, family-owned and operated company is expanding its footprint, including the development of the full-service Marriott hotel and conference center on Carroll Creek in Frederick, MD.
During his Marriott tenure, Zappone led the sustainability finance team in support of global operations’ Climate Action Program to drive investment and enhance energy efficiency at more than 9,000 hotels.
He has also worked at companies such as Capital One and Verizon.
“I’m thrilled to partner with this growth-focused team,” said Zappone. “My role will directly support the company growth in the greater Washington, DC, area; my team and I will also be working to identify new, strategic opportunities for expansion as we springboard off of the planned full-service Marriott hotel and conference center.”
In addition to supporting the hotel division’s growth, he will also be supporting the Roy Rogers Restaurants division, which has 23 company-owned restaurants and 16 franchised restaurants in five states. A Cherry Hill, NJ, location will soon be added to the portfolio, and there are more opportunities for growth in the Northern Virginia market.
“As we establish ourselves further into existing markets and move into new ones, Matthew will be a valuable asset to helping manage these strategic initiatives,” said Jim Plamondon, co-owner, Plamondon Companies. “The role of CFO will offer opportunities to work closely with our operations team, marketing team, legal partners, lenders and investors and internal team members. Matthew’s hospitality experience paired with his diverse industry background makes him a perfect fit to navigate the nuanced relationships of each aspect of our business.”
