Marriott International has made several leadership changes in marketing and sales, including naming Andy Kauffman its new chief commercial officer, U.S. & Canada.
Kauffman returns to Marriott from the National Football League (NFL), where he served as SVP, marketing strategy & science since 2021. In his role with the NFL, he led transformative marketing strategies that accelerated fan growth and increased live game viewership and digital engagement, while directly overseeing fan insights & personalized engagement, marketing technology & data management and marketing activation across the league, partners and all 32 teams’ marketing channels.
Prior to this, he spent 11 years at Marriott in various roles across the digital and marketing organizations, most recently as SVP, marketing channels & optimization, spearheading the global marketing transformation effort and execution of go-to-market strategies, designed to grow awareness and direct revenue for Marriott Bonvoy and its portfolio of brands. He was an instrumental leader driving direct revenue growth, performance marketing and digital acquisition, and digital product innovation, according to the company.
Prior to Marriott, he held leadership roles at Expedia and Disney focused on growing topline revenue growth, impactful innovation and customer loyalty.
“I am honored and excited to rejoin the company I love, the industry that is so deeply intertwined with my personal journey, and people that I admire greatly,” he said in a statement on his LinkedIn profile. “This role is a perfect fit for the next stage of my career and I look forward to working with my new team to fuel our next stage of growth!”
Kauffman replaces Julius Robinson, formerly the chief sales & marketing officer, U.S. & Canada, who has moved into a new role as COO, U.S. West, Marriott International.
Shannon Patterson has been named SVP, global sales. Since joining Marriott in 1996, she has been a “driving force” behind numerous transformative initiatives across brand, marketing, sales & consumer services and more, the company reports.
Previously, she served as SVP, global growth & delivery, which included forging new business partnerships, overseeing the annual pricing process for Marriott’s corporate accounts and providing sales and marketing enablement tools. She also previously led Marriott’s customer engagement centers.
Patterson replaces Tammy Routh, who has moved into a new role as commercial performance leader for The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection.
Gail Frazer has been promoted to the role of SVP, sales and distribution, U.S. & Canada. Most recently, she served as managing VP, sales and distribution for the U.S. Eastern region, premium and luxury hotels. She was formerly responsible for leading sales for the corporate segment within Marriott’s corporate global sales organization, representing Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of brands to the largest multi-national corporate B2B customers, contributing to more than $12 billion in topline sales.
Frazer replaces Brian Gilligan, who has moved into a new role as regional VP, premium brands, Northeast, Marriott International.
