Marriott opens W, Westin properties

Marriott International has opened new hotels under the W and Westin flags in Philadelphia and Tempe, AZ, respectively.

W Philadelphia
W Hotels Worldwide, part of Marriott International, has opened W Philadelphia in the heart of downtown. The 51-story hotel features 295 guestrooms including 39 suites, which have floor-to-ceiling windows and panoramic city views. Nods to traditional Pennsylvania craftsmanship can be seen in entryway and bathroom tile patterns, as well as Shaker-style chairs at each workspace. Illuminated in the guestrooms are the words of the Declaration of Independence, etched in graffiti font on a custom light fixture.

The hotel also includes the Living Room, which will serve coffee in the daytime and cocktails at night; “Stevens’ Prophecy,” a salon adorned with artwork celebrating Grace Kelly, tucked behind a two-way mirror; the seventh-floor WET Deck with a heated, year-round pool and the WET Deck Bar; and the Secret Garden greenspace which feature Illuminated busts of Benjamin Franklin and Marie Antoinette. Dolce, a signature all-day dining concept of LDV Hospitality, will open soon.

Other amenities include the brand’s signature AWAY Spa and more than 45,000 sq. ft. of event space inspired by the brand’s long-standing passion for music.

The Westin Tempe
As the largest new hotel to debut in Tempe, AZ, in nearly four decades, The Westin Tempe is now open in the city’s downtown district with the area’s highest open-air rooftop bar and lounge, Skysill Rooftop Lounge.

Owned and developed by CAI Investments and managed by Crescent Hotels & Resorts, the full-service hotel has 290 guestrooms and suites and approximately 21,000 sq. ft. of indoor and outdoor event space. Besides the rooftop lounge, F&B outlets include the ground-floor Terra Tempe Kitchen & Spirits and Cup of Joe Market Café.

Designed by local firm RSP Architects, the hotel’s interior is embellished with numerous biophilic elements that play off the juxtaposition of the dry desert against the lush softness found after a summer monsoon.

The hotel is just a few miles from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and near the historic Mill Avenue District, Arizona State University, Tempe Town Lake, “A” Mountain (Hayden Butte) and Tempe Beach Park.
