Makeover in the mountains

Four Seasons Resort and Residences Vail has completed a resort enhancement project. The premier year-round property has been completely reimagined, creating a fresh interpretation of the grand alpine resort, with a refined, contemporary finish. The resort will continue to be the place for both locals and visitors alike seeking the sophistication of the Four Seasons brand while enjoying the legendary setting in Vail Village.

“Inspired by the mountain chic vibe of Vail, we wanted the hotel design to look contemporary and for the feel to be casual luxury,” said Pierre Josselin, NEWH, associate principal, Jeffrey Beers.

The multimillion-dollar complete renovation of Four Seasons Resort and Residences Vail, phased over the past three years, marks the most significant investment the resort has undergone since its inception in 2010. Enhancements include a refresh and remodel of all hotel guestrooms, suites and corridors; conversion and remodeling of several private residences, refreshed meeting space and a redesigned lobby and all public spaces.

“We sought to bring a fresh and modern look to the property while being mindful to the mountain location and the iconic Four Seasons brand,” Josselin said. “For example, we focused on the materials throughout the property, such as ebonizing the millwork for a striking contrast, a new stone cladded reception desk and bold decorative upholstered panels line the walls of the ballroom.”

The building’s design elements have transformed the Vail property with a stylish, cool, mountain-chic makeover. The tailored mountain modern design has incorporated clean, contemporary lines; paired with organic textures and colors, complementary of Vail’s mountain landscape. Local stone and wood have added mountain-chic touches to all of the fireplaces while nature-inspired carpet, leathers and textured fabrics have been combined to create a sophisticated resort feel.

“Vail is renowned for its breathtaking nature and mountain views, as well as for its luxurious offerings and relaxed mountain lifestyle. We sought to embody all these elements by balancing contemporary bold design with luxurious materials and tones, as well as with homey and residential accents,” Josselin said.

In addition to a complete makeover of all guestrooms and suites, many of the individually owned private residences in the Four Seasons branded Private Retreats portfolio have been renovated as well. Boasting 24 private residences ranging from two- to six-bedrooms, each uniquely designed and beautifully appointed, Four Seasons Residences Vail is the ideal location for families, multi-generation travel and groups of friends seeking comfortable, luxurious accommodation while enjoying the limitless adventure of Vail Mountain—located in the resort’s very own backyard.
