Originally founded in Chicago in 1950 by former MoMA curator Edgar Kaufmann Jr., together with a list of pioneers of modern design such as Charles and Ray Eames, Russel Wright, George Nelson and Eero Saarinen, the annual Good Design Awards celebrate work by the best industrial and graphic designers and manufacturers for their pursuit of design excellence.

“We’re very pleased to receive these accolades for our work—a real measure of excellence—and we thank the distinguished judges and the design community as a whole,” Rottet said.

The Lyda sofa designed by Lauren Rottet for Haworth is complemented by steel arms and a marble tablet surface, which can be positioned according to preference, and is upholstered in a warm neutral mohair and gray leather. A hidden pocket drawer in the arm allows for USB connections and storage. The line has a “traditional meets modern aesthetic,” advised Rottet.

Her Fascio Collection for Visual Comfort & Co. takes LED technology to new levels of contemporary warmth and is composed of faceted crystal tubes that are bound and produced as sconces, pendant lights, a chandelier and a floor lamp in a choice of polished nickel, hand-rubbed antique brass and bronze finishes.

The Crossbeam table for Nucraft has an angled and modern form that is capable of transforming any conference area. The distinctive top is available in wood, glass, metal or stone, in a variety of finishes and the table possesses integrated wire management and easy access to power and data.
