Karen Daroff retires as principal at NELSON Worldwide

Effective Jan. 31, interior and architectural designer Karen Daroff is stepping down from her design principal role at NELSON Worldwide to pursue her next life’s chapter.

Daroff has enjoyed a 50-year career. She has provided leadership, innovation and mentorship to clients, teammates and hundreds of aspiring designers across the country and internationally. She has been the recipient of numerous awards, including Interior Design Magazine’s Designer of the Year and induction into Hospitality Magazine’s Platinum Circle Hall of Fame.

As further acknowledgment of her career, and the hundreds of students and designers she has mentored, on May 22, her alma mater, Moore College of Art and Design will host an event to honor Daroff with their Visionary Woman of the Year award.

In June 2022, she merged her Daroff Design team and client work in progress into NELSON Worldwide. This move, like so many other initiatives in her career, resulted in collaboration with NELSON, a firm of shared values, in the practice of architecture and interior design. This decision was focused on ensuring continuity for her talented team and a seamless transition for the firm’s valued clients.

Daroff plans to consult with a few select clients.
