HotelPlanner, a travel technology company and hotel booking platform, has appointed Santiago Vazquez Martinez to the newly created role of chief investment officer.
Reporting directly to Co-founder/CEO Tim Hentschel, Martinez oversees the company’s global investment strategy and portfolio and related initiatives to accelerate growth and profitability.
He began his career as a financial lawyer for five years, focused on the bank and credit industries. He moved into the asset management industry where he has spent the last 14 years, including working in Hong Kong for seven years to open the European market for a Hong Kong asset management firm. More recently, he has worked on business development at GVC Gaesco, a European-based asset management company, to open their Japanese market while expanding their Asia-Pacific and EMEA footprint.
“Santiago’s banking and asset management experience and expertise, not to mention his legal acumen, will serve us well in the coming years as we continue to grow and expand our service offerings,” said Hentschel. “And the timing is perfect because we are experiencing unprecedented year-over-year growth right now. We’re excited to welcome Santiago to the HotelPlanner family.”
Martinez added, “I’m honored by the opportunity to join such an amazing team of travel and hospitality professionals. HotelPlanner is in rapid growth mode across the globe, which is amazing to see. I’m excited to help strengthen and align our global investment strategy as we look to the future.”
