NATIONAL REPORT—Hotel companies are expanding in the Northeast with a slate of new projects. Philadelphia, New York and New Jersey are the homes of some recent developments:
Hyatt Centric Philadelphia Tops Out
The final steel beam was raised on Philadelphia’s new Hyatt Centric hotel. The 13-story upscale hotel is expected to be complete in summer 2020. The hotel is close Rittenhouse Square, shops and restaurants. The 332-room hotel will have retail and food and beverage outlets, a fitness center, meeting and event space, and lounges. The hotel is being constructed by Clemens Construction, Das Architects is serving as the architecture and interior design firm, and Crème is the interior designer.
The Abbey Inn & Spa Preserves History
The Abbey Inn & Spa, the Gateway to the Hudson Highlands, will begin welcoming travelers to New York’s Hudson Valley in January 2020. Nestled high atop historic Fort Hill in Peekskill, NY, the new 42-room, full-service boutique hotel will offer a restaurant, spa and fitness area, and meeting, event and gathering spaces both indoors and outdoors overlooking the Hudson River. Managed by Hay Creek Hotels, The Abbey Inn has undergone a $22-million renovation. The resulting design is contemporary with a universal feel, preserving the aged granite and brick exteriors of the former convent, while reconfiguring interior spaces and transforming two chapels into meeting and event spaces.
Courtyard by Marriott Underway in New Jersey
Courtyard by Marriott has broken ground on the Courtyard Hamilton in Hamilton, NJ. The property is close to Trenton, NJ; Princeton, NJ; New York City; and Philadelphia. Also nearby is Princeton University, Six Flags Great Adventure and shops and restaurants. The property is slated to open in early 2021. Courtyard by Marriott Hamilton is owned and managed by Briad Lodging Group LLC, the hotel division of Livingston, NJ-based The Briad Group. The property will have a fitness center, a 24/7 market, guest laundry, more than 1,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, a heated outdoor pool and a complimentary shuttle service.
Homewood Suites by Hilton Breaks Ground in New Jersey
Homewood Suites by Hilton has broken ground on the Homewood Suites Edison in Edison, NJ, slated to open in early 2021. The hotel has access to the New Jersey Turnpike, Garden State Parkway and Menlo Park Train Station. The property is also close to the Metro Park Corporate Center, Rutgers Gardens, Roosevelt Park, Washington Rock State Park, Menlo Park Mall, shops and restaurants. Homewood Suites by Hilton Edison is owned and managed by Briad Lodging Group LLC. The property will include a fitness center, indoor swimming pool and an outdoor sports court. The property will also have more than 1,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space.
