Five Hotel Projects Are Underway

NATIONAL REPORT—Makeready is bringing the Emeline to Charleston, SC; the Bottleworks District in Indianapolis is getting a new hotel; and there’s more hospitality projects in the works.

New Hotel Concept Planned in Charleston, SC

Makeready has revealed that Emeline will open in May in Charleston, SC’s historic district.

Owner and developer Rockbridge designed Emeline from the ground up to create an independent experience. Accommodations include 212 all-king bed guestrooms, including 128 luxury suites and 16 double king bed accommodations. Each room will be complemented with contemporary touches such as branded embroidered linens from Matouk, premium in-room amenities from Red Flower, custom vinyl on Crosley turntables and more.

Come May, guests will be able to experience Frannie & The Fox, a wood-fired eatery, and Clerks Coffee Company.

Additionally, Emeline will be home to Makeready’s luxury retail experience, Keep Shop, and a fitness center. With more than 13,000 sq. ft. of flexible function space, Emeline will cater to meetings or gatherings with up to 350 attendees. Groups can choose from 10 meeting spaces as well as Emeline’s newest neighbor and partner in events, Hank’s Social Hall.

Bottleworks Hotel Shares Preview of Design

Coming this fall, the 140-room Bottleworks Hotel will open in the Bottleworks District in downtown Indianapolis. The property will have a restaurant and bar, a central atrium, room service as well as distinctive hospitality and design. The hotel will be a part of the new Bottleworks District, a $300-million, 12-acre, urban mixed-use development reimagining the Coca-Cola building.

The largest private development of its kind in Indiana, Bottleworks will serve as a culinary, arts and entertainment hub, including the Bottleworks Hotel, the city’s first food hall, residential options, as well as 180,000 sq. ft. of flexible office space and 175,000 sq. ft. of prime retail space.

Kimpton Expands in the Carolinas

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants plans to open a boutique hotel in the historic West End of Greenville, SC. The new Kimpton hotel is set to open in early 2022 and will mark the fourth property for the boutique hotel company in the Carolinas, joining Kimpton hotels in Asheville, NC; Charlotte, NC; and Winston-Salem, NC.

The new-build Kimpton hotel in Greenville will be operated by Hostmark Hospitality and will house 170 guestrooms, with 17 suites, more than 6,800 sq. ft. of flexible meetings and events space as well as extensive food and beverage programming with a basement brewery and tap room, ground-level restaurant, lobby coffee shop and retail space and activated second-story pool deck.

Atop the building’s six stories will be an indoor and outdoor rooftop bar and restaurant. The hotel will offer guests high design with a strong local narrative along with all of Kimpton’s distinctive amenities.

Vision Beaks Ground on AC in Atlanta

AC Hotels by Marriott and Chattanooga, TN-based Vision Hospitality Group Inc. revealed the AC Hotel in North Atlanta’s Perimeter Center has broken ground. The design-driven lifestyle hotel is slated to open in 2021 and will have 156 guestrooms, communal spaces and the area’s first rooftop bar with views of the Atlanta skyline.

The modern guestrooms will cater to business travelers and offer sleek furnishings, an open closet system, art and hardwood floors. The AC Library will provide ambient lighting and a collection of novels selected by guest curators, while the AC Lounge will offer a collaborative workspace by day and gathering place by night on the seventh floor.

As one of two food and beverage experiences, the rooftop bar will be open year-round and will offer tapas-style small bites, artisanal cocktails, local craft beers and specialty wines. On the first floor, the brand’s signature AC Kitchen will offer a continental breakfast selection of croissants, egg tarts, sliced Iberico prosciutto and Nespresso coffee.

Tru by Hilton Beaks Ground in Texas

Tru by Hilton broke ground in Rockwall, TX. It is situated on a bluff with views of Lake Hubbard and is accessible to the Harbor District of shops, restaurants and a movie theater.

One of the brand’s hallmarks is a smart and efficiently designed guestroom, as well as reimagined public spaces for cross-generational appeal. Complimentary amenities include a customizable breakfast toppings bar; mobile check-in and digital key available through the Hilton Honors mobile app; and free WiFi.

The four-story, 98-room select-service Tru by Hilton Rockwall will have a multifunctional fitness center, and an outdoor pool with an outdoor seating area and firepit. Construction is already underway and Tru by Hilton Rockwall is expected to open this fall.
