First Look: Reimagined Royal

Following a multimillion-dollar transformation, Sandals Resorts International (SRI) has unveiled its completely reimagined Sandals Royal Bahamian in Nassau, Bahamas which is set to open in January.

The new look was designed to celebrate the easy-going spirit of The Bahamas with locally inspired experiences and a thoughtful, modern approach to luxury.

“The inspiration for the reimagined Sandals Royal Bahamian stems from its beautiful destination,” said Sarah Hartman, senior interior designer, Hospitality Purveyors Inc (HPI), the exclusive design and procurement arm for all Sandals Resorts International properties. “The myriad of colors, the Caribbean-calm vibe and vibrant Bahamian culture are infused all throughout the property’s design, with luxurious elements dialed up throughout every touchpoint.”

The property has added river suites in the freshly named East & West Bays and more than 200 fully renovated rooms and suites and the all-new Island Village. “The all-new Island Village is a pastel-colored dream and is inspired by the Bahamian archipelago, with each villa named after an island in The Bahamas, featuring butler service and their own private pool,” she said.

Another new addition to the property is Coconut Grove, an expansive lounge area extending Bahamian beach vibes to the center of the resort. Shaded by coconut palms, the new setting has chic seating options, live music and entertainment, views of the sea and three all-new food trucks.

“Another celebration of the region is our new Coconut Grove lounge area along the water, with unparalleled views of the sea and chic, comfortable seating,” said Hartman. “Shaded by coconut palms, the new setting boasts live music and entertainment and for a quick bite, locally inspired Bahamian fusion cuisine from two gourmet food trucks, Bahama Mamma Mia & Coco Queen. We want guests to unwind and enjoy the friendly, easy-going spirit of The Bahamas.”

The property is also introducing five new restaurants when it opens this winter including La Plume for French cuisine; traditional British Pub The Queen’s Pearl; Kanoo for cuisine that celebrates the Caribbean region, Butch’s Island Chop House for hand-cut steaks, fish fillets and seafood prepared to order and fresh sushi spot Soy.

According to SRI Executive Chairman Adam Stewart, plans for the reimagined Sandals Royal Bahamian have been in the works for nearly three years and are part of a much larger strategy across the organization to authentically reflect the unique Caribbean destinations where Sandals Resorts operates in design, product offerings and style of luxury service
