First look: Newly renovated Courtyard Detroit Downtown Hotel

Courtyard by Marriott Detroit Downtown Hotel has completed a renovation to transform both its interior and exterior. Owned by Bedrock and operated by Marriott International, the 260-room hotel resides inside the Millender Center that connects to the Renaissance Center, Millender Center Detroit People Mover station and the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center via an enclosed Skyway.

The renovations were led by The Gettys Group, the project architect was Detroit-based Neumann/Smith Architecture and the general contractor was Albert M. Higley Co.

The refreshed lobby now presents a more modern look and feel. The hotel has 260 guestrooms, all of which have been completely renovated with upgraded fixtures and a contemporary design.

For visitors who prioritize their health and wellness, Courtyard Detroit Downtown offers guests an indoor pool, sauna and upgraded fitness amenities. The hotel now has an elevated COR fitness center inclusive of sleek locker rooms, a cardio center overlooking the city and Detroit River, a yoga studio and free weights.

Courtyard Detroit Downtown also has new features tailored to today’s business travelers, meeting planners and those looking for a quiet area to work during their stay. New ergonomic workspaces have been added to the hotel to complement existing spaces and have been modernized to now offer individual breakout rooms, mid-sized meeting rooms and large conference rooms. All spaces are fully equipped with NodesNow, an all-in-one meeting ecosystem that includes 86” 4K display projection screens with multi-touch interface for smarter meetings.

Additionally, the exterior of the hotel has undergone significant changes, including enhanced landscaping designs in outdoor spaces that encompass the hotel entryways and the rooftop.

“The Courtyard Detroit Downtown’s transformation brings new energy to both the property and the hospitality landscape in a city that continues to rise,” said Andrew Leber, VP, hospitality, Bedrock. “The dedication to service and the overall hospitality experience for every guest is exceptional, making the hotel a top destination for visitors from near and far.”
