DiamondRock COO resigns; new additions at Valor, Starwood Capital

Thomas G. Healy has resigned his position as COO at DiamondRock, while Valor Hospitality Partners and Starwood Capital Group are adding leaders.

DiamondRock Hospitality Company has revealed that EVP/COO Thomas G. Healy (pictured above) is resigning from his position, effective April 15, to pursue new opportunities.

Healy’s responsibilities for overseeing asset management and redevelopment projects will be transitioned to Mark W. Brugger, president/CEO of the company.

“Tom has been instrumental in working with me to create the leading asset management team in the industry,” said Brugger. “On behalf of the entire DiamondRock team, I thank Tom for his significant contributions to the organization and wish him success in his next chapter. Valor Hospitality Partners adds new CDO
Valor Hospitality Partners, a global, full-service hotel management company, has added Dwayne Marshall as chief development officer (CDO).

As CDO, he leads the execution of the company’s growth strategy in the U.S. by sourcing, structuring, negotiating and executing third-party management contracts nationwide and assisting with underwriting acquisition and development opportunities for the company and its capital partners. Additionally, he will continue to build and nurture Valor’s strategic relationships with hotel ownership groups, hotel brands, asset managers, hotel brokers and the hotel investment community at large.

“I’ve long admired Valor Hospitality’s reputation in the industry, and when I was approached about interest in this role, it was an easy decision to make,” said Marshall. “I’m thrilled to join Valor’s corporate leadership team, continuing to maintain and enhance the organization’s impressive growth strategy.”

With an extensive background in corporate hospitality, he joins Valor following senior leadership roles with Chesapeake Hospitality, Marriott International, IHG and others.

Starwood Capital Group appoints Tanenbaum
Rob Tanenbaum has joined Starwood Capital Group, a global private investment firm focused on real estate and energy renewables investments, as managing director/head of North American hotel asset management.

In his new role, he focuses on enhancing asset values and maximizing performance of Starwood Capital’s full-service, select-service and resort hotel portfolio across North America. He will also work closely with Cody Bradshaw, the company’s managing director/global head of hotel asset management, and Steve Goldman, managing director/head of hotel acquisitions for the Americas on the underwriting and business plan development for new hotel and leisure investments in North America and to drive performance post-acquisition.

“We are excited to welcome a seasoned executive of Rob’s caliber to lead Starwood Capital’s North American hotel asset management team,” said Bradshaw. “His extensive experience building and leading impressive asset management teams, his deep industry relationships and his proven track record in transforming hotel assets make him the ideal candidate to continue building our platform as we expand into new markets around the globe.”

He brings more than 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry, including all aspects of hotel asset management and transformation. Prior to joining Starwood Capital, he previously served as COO/EVP at two leading U.S. hotel REITs, where he oversaw large portfolios of major full-service hotels and luxury resorts. He also established Madison Hotel Advisors, a specialized asset management firm dedicated to optimizing hotel values through strategic planning, revenue management and capital allocation.
