Connectivity in the City

Omni Atlanta Hotel at CNN Center has completed a $12 million renovation to the hotel’s public spaces and dining outlets which includes the addition of four new food and beverage concepts: Top Draft, Centennial Grounds, New South Kitchen and Vues Lobby Bar.

The renovations, which were made to the hotel’s South Tower, were designed to create a destination of connectivity for locals and guests alike. Located within CNN’s world headquarters, the revitalized hotel acts as a hub for business, news and social interaction.

“The hotel’s narrative was ‘the destination for global connectivity,’ which was inspired by being connected to CNN’s world headquarters,” said Laura McKoy, creative director/VP of interior design at Omni Hotels & Resorts. “With the hotel lobby’s 360-degree architectural footprint each venue radiates from the central elevator bank, reinforcing our hub concept and global shape of the world as well.”

The new lobby evokes a feeling of creativity and collaboration with communal tables and inviting lounge areas. Separately, the multiple new food and beverage outlets allow for any gathering—from a business meeting to drinks with a friend.

“The design challenge at Omni Atlanta Hotel at CNN Center, as is the case in most renovations, is how to blend the new design direction and concepts with existing design and architecture as not every element or component of the hotel are renovated,” McKoy explained. “Masterfully embracing what was to remain and finding subtle ways to incorporate elements from the existing design into the new. This resulted in seamless transitions of existing and new reflecting elements of one other.”
