Bobbi Brown to Open Boutique Hotel

MONTCLAIR, NJ—Bobbi Brown is the latest celebrity to enter the hospitality industry. Brown and her husband, Steven Plofker, are opening The George Inn here. A preview of the historic property, which has been completely restored into a 32-room boutique hotel, will take place later this month.

A first for the husband and wife team, the couple transformed the property into a design-minded, boutique hotel located 12 miles west of New York City.

Built in 1902 as a private home for Charles Van Vleck, The Georgian Inn was later converted into a residential hotel for short-term stays in the 1940s. At this time, the Montclair branch of the French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) relocated its New Jersey headquarters to the Queen Anne carriage house in back. In 2008, the historic building was granted a landmark status and in 2012, after it was purchased, the inn underwent a full renovation.

They designed each of the rooms to have a bespoke look and feel that’s distinctly different from the rest. The aesthetic was inspired by the couple’s love of travel.

As the creative director of The George, Brown looked to partner with some of her favorite brands, including Audio Pro, Casper, Emma Bridgewater, Dopper, Dyson, EO, Flaneur, Hello!, Nespresso, One Kings Lane and SMEG.
