Big Brands Enter New Locations

INTERNATIONAL REPORT—Hyatt Regency, Club Med, Tivoli and Kimpton have opened or are opening properties in new locations. Here’s what to know:

Hyatt Regency Expands Brand in China

Hyatt Hotels Corporation has opened the first Hyatt Regency property in the capital of China, the Hyatt Regency Beijing Wangjing.

The 348-key hotel is situated in the Wangjing Central Business District, is close to the Airport Express, Futong subway station on Line 14 and the 798 Art District. There are five restaurants and bars that offer locally inspired options. In addition, the property has a total of 60,277 sq. ft. of meeting space. The Regency Ballroom is 14,746 sq. ft.

Club Med Opens First Exclusive Collection Resort on Mediterranean

Club Med has opened Club Med Cefalu. The new flagship in Italy is located on Sicily’s northern coast and is close to the city of Cefalu. The resort will be open for 10 months of the year (March-January), and is proximate to the Palermo airport. Amenities include a spa, fitness center and natural pool. There are also three restaurants offering different atmospheres and cuisines.

Tivoli Hotels & Resorts Expands With Alentejo Location

Tivoli Hotels & Resorts plans to open its first property in the Alentejo region of Portugal in the city of Evora, joining the brand’s other properties in Portugal, Brazil and Qatar.

The Tivoli Evora Ecoresort is scheduled to launch in the third quarter. Currently operating as the Ecorkhotel, Evora—Suites & Spa, the property is located in Portugal’s south-central Alentejo region, close to the center of Evora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and close to the capital Lisbon.

There is a spa, indoor swimming pool, sauna, Turkish bath and a fitness room. The main restaurant has local and seasonal produce, much of which is sourced directly from the hotel’s own garden.

Kimpton Opens First Toronto Property

Kimpton Saint George has opened and is the company’s first Toronto location. The hotel has 188 guestrooms, including 20 suites. There’s 1,500 sq. ft. of pre-function space, a 400-sq.-ft. pre-function lounge and 1,100 sq. ft. of meeting and event space. In addition, amenities include free WiFi for IHG Rewards Club members and health-minded wellness options, such as complimentary use of custom-designed Public bikes and 24-hour access to the hotel’s fitness center.
