DIVIDED DESIGN

Tudelü, a provider of custom, motor operated, retractable walls introduces a new installation of a new product.

Tudelü is increasingly working on more hospitality projects that creatively use their retractable walls—from discretely covering breakfast bars when not in use, to dividing large conference rooms or ballrooms into smaller spaces.

One recent example is Hilton Garden Inn Kent Island Hotel, which has an on-site restaurant that serves a buffet or cook-to-order breakfast. During a recent renovation, the property installed two of Tudelü’s Micro Systems to complement the hotel’s design aesthetic and discreetly hide the breakfast bars when not in use.

The Client
Hilton Garden Inn Kent Island hotel in Grasonville, MD is a modern hotel with its Chesapeake Bay location close to Baltimore/Washington International Airport. One noteworthy guest amenity, in particular, is an on-site restaurant that serves a buffet or cook-to-order breakfast.

The Challenge
The corner area in the dining space features two separate bars; one for displaying buffet food and another that provides a view into the open chefs kitchen. Hilton had a divider system in the drawings for the property’s renovation, but did not provide specs.

The Solution
The general manager opted to install two of Tudelü’s Micro Systems, which feature a thin mesh material. The design team selected Tudelü’s Reeds pattern from the Signature Collection to complement the aquatic theme being that the hotel is a waterfront property.

The Result
Tudelü’s motorized retractable walls complement the hotel’s design aesthetic and discreetly hide the breakfast bar when not in use. “It is a simple, clean system that not only looks really good, but also provides the privacy needed,” said Walter Thompson, president of Thompson Hotels.
