NEW YORK—Airbnb has passed a milestone with 400 million guest arrivals to date. The milestone was reached on Aug. 26, the same month that Airbnb recorded its largest single night in history with 3.5 million guest arrivals taking place on Aug. 11, according to Greg Greeley, president of homes at Airbnb.
Greeley also shared updates on the progress of Airbnb Plus. Launched earlier this year, Airbnb Plus is a new tier of homes that have been inspected and verified in person for quality and comfort. Airbnb Plus helps hosts stand out while providing guests with an easy way to find high-quality listings.
- Since February, Airbnb has tripled the number of cities where Airbnb Plus is available and last week launched in Bali, Auckland and Athens. Airbnb Plus is now available in 34 cities worldwide.
- Hosts that join Plus typically see a 40% increase in the number of bookings and a 70% increase in nights booked, according to the company.
- Plus homes receive at least 10% more five-star reviews than other homes, according to the company.
Airbnb For Work
Another important growth driver has been Airbnb for Work, which recently relaunched to expand from business travel to also include team-building with Airbnb Experiences, homes on Airbnb for off-sites and meetings and new options for people relocating for work. Airbnb for Work bookings tripled from 2015 to 2016, and then tripled again from 2016 to 2017. There are now more than 700,000 companies using Airbnb for Work, 275,000 of them directly engaged with Airbnb to help manage their travel.
