Hyatt to Bring First Thompson Hotels to Colorado
Hyatt Hotels Corporation has plans for Thompson Denver, the first Thompson Hotels property in the state of Colorado, expected to open in 2021. Currently under development, Thompson Denver recently broke ground in LoDo, a downtown neighborhood close to Union Station. Developed by T2 Hospitality, the 11-story boutique hotel will be designed as a modern-day chalet, with architecture by Denver’s DLR Group and interiors by Parts + Labor, in collaboration with the Thompson Hotels design team. The 216-room Thompson Denver will have food and beverage options, retail, an indoor/outdoor terrace and function and meeting spaces.
Development Underway for Pendry Residences Park City
SB Architects has broken ground onPendry Hotels’ new branded residences, Pendry Residences Park City. Scheduled for completion in winter 2021 in Park City, UT. Featuring 150 fully-serviced guestrooms and suites, ranging in size from studios to four-bedroom penthouse residences, Pendry Residences Park City is also comprised of four lounge, restaurant and bar experiences, including the only rooftop bar and pool in the area. In addition to a fitness center, arcade games, guests and residents will have access to Spa Pendry’s eight treatment rooms and a full menu of services. There will also be more than 7,000 sq. ft. of indoor meeting space, including a 4,000-sq.-ft. ballroom.
Resort Experience Underway in Virginia Beach, VA
Gold Key PHR’s $125 million dollar oceanfront hotel, the Marriott Virginia Beach Oceanfront in Coastal Virginia, is projected to open in early 2020. The Marriott Virginia Beach Oceanfront is the second phase in a three-phase $350 million dollar masterplan, which includes The Historic Cavalier Hotel and Beach Club, The Cavalier Residences, 42 ocean condominiums, the new Marriott Virginia Beach Oceanfront and a phase three, which will include an additional hotel. The three phases will create an all-in-one resort experience.
The 305-room Marriott Virginia Beach Oceanfront Hotel will employ more than 365 associates and will have more than 25,000 sq. ft. of function space, restaurants with rooftop dining and multiple bars throughout. The hotel will also have a 2,400-sq.-ft. M Club Lounge. Additional amenities include gardens, fitness areas and adjacent indoor and outdoor swimming pools. Guests will also be able to enjoy landscaped grounds along the oceanfront with bocce ball, fire pits and terraces.
Construction Begins on Marriott Delta Hotel in Texas
Construction has begun on the Marriott Delta Hotel in Southlake, TX, projected to open in 2020. Merriman Anderson/Architects (MAA) is the architect and interior designer for the project. The Marriott Delta Hotel is one of the first ground-up Delta hotels in the U.S. The full-service, six-story hotel will span five acres and have 240 guestrooms and suites, 10,000 sq.-ft. of meeting space and a full-service restaurant and bar.
The hotel is Phase I of a mixed-use development in Southlake, TX that will span 16 acres. The hotel sits at the southeast corner of the 114 corridor in Southlake and will be a centerpoint of the mixed-use development, which will include both office and retail. Other hotel amenities include a display kitchen in the full-service restaurant and an outdoor pool and patio. MAA provided architecture, interior design, FF&E design, master planning and visualization services for the project. RREAF Holdings is the developer; Hill & Wilkinson is the general contractor; and Cole Engineering is the MEP engineer.
QHotels Breaks Ground on Springhill Suites by Marriott Slidell
The city of Slidell, LA welcomes QHotels as the chosen developers. Through the partnership, LD Capital, QHotels has secured $4 million in funding for the hotel from the EB-5 Investment Program. The hotel will be located in the Fremaux Towne Center. Both the hotel and Towne Center have visibility from Interstate 10. The Springhill Suites by Marriott Slidell project broke ground in May and is expected to open in fall 2020.
Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Set to Debut Following Renovation
Sheraton Phoenix Downtown is set to debut in early 2020, being reimagined under Marriott International’s ownership. In May, the 1,000-room Sheraton Phoenix Downtown launched its multi-phase transformation, featuring a complete renovation of the guestrooms followed by a redesign of the lobby, public spaces and dining outlets. The hotel remains open during the entire renovation. The hotel will have a coffee bar, work spaces, The Sheraton Club and food and beverage options.
