NATIONAL REPORT—Hotel construction projects are happening across the U.S., including a Hotel Trio, InterContinental San Diego, Homewood Suites and Country Inn & Suites. Here’s a closer look:
IHG Expands in Southern California
InterContinental Hotels Group has opened the InterContinental San Diego, a 400-room property overlooking the San Diego bayfront. This new-build is the third InterContinental Hotels & Resorts property in Southern California and joins the recently opened InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown and the InterContinental Los Angeles Century City.
The hotel is owned by Portman Holdings and is managed by IHG. Developed through a partnership with Portman, Lankford & Associates and Hensel Phelps, the property is part of the second phase of BRIC, Portman’s mixed-use development.
Located on the grounds of Lane Field—the former baseball stadium of the San Diego Padres—InterContinental San Diego’s location is close to the Embarcadero, which docks both the USS Midway and Maritime Museum of San Diego. In addition, the hotel has five on-property restaurants, bars and coffee shops, a rooftop pool, wellness center and 95,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space.
Construction Complete on Hotel Trio
R.D. Olson Construction has completed a ground-up, two-part construction project in Healdsburg, CA. The project included Hotel Trio, a 122-room hotel and Citrine Apartments, a 37-unit affordable housing community. Located in Sonoma County wine region, the area connects the Dry Creek, Russian River and Alexander wine valleys, giving the hotel its “Trio” name.
The 82,638-sq.-ft. Hotel Trio includes 13 one-bedroom layouts and 109 studios. The hotel offers guests in-room kitchens, outdoor patios, fire pits, a fully equipped fitness center, outdoor pool deck, wine and coffee bar, lounge, BBQ area, a meeting room and third-floor lounge overlooking Dry Creek.
Citrine Apartments, a 41,048-sq.-ft. affordable housing community, is located adjacent to the hotel. The community offers residents one-, two- and three-bedroom options. Amenities include a bike storage area, playground, outdoor lounge area, laundry facility, community room with WiFi and a BBQ beach area.
Homewood Suites Opens in Minneapolis
Noble Investment Group and Simon opened of the Homewood Suites by Hilton Edina Minneapolis, located in the Edina as part of Southdale Center’s mixed-use complex.
The Homewood Suites by Hilton Edina Minneapolis has 146 studio and one-bedroom suites, each with separate living and sleeping areas and a fully equipped kitchen. The hotel also has complimentary WiFi, a 24-hour business center, a fitness center with an indoor heated pool, and a lobby bar and outdoor courtyard.
Country Inn & Suites Comes to Fort Atkinson, WI
Country Inn & Suites by Radisson has opened the Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Fort Atkinson, WI. This is the first hotel in 18 years to be built in Fort Atkinson, WI. The new-build has the brand’s latest design with modern interiors, furnishings and 83 guestrooms and suites.
Guests have access to a fitness center, 24-hour business center, indoor pool and free WiFi. There are four meeting rooms with space for up to 300 guests.
