A HUB of nature in Warsaw

The new Crowne Plaza Warsaw—The HUB in Poland was designed to bring the beauty—and tranquility—of nature to a busy area of the vibrant and electrifying city.

The interiors of the project were designed by Polish architectural studio Tremend. “It was an unforgettable adventure and a big challenge,” said Magdalena Federowicz-Boule, chairman/creative director, Tremend. “We didn’t receive specified project standards. This allowed us the freedom to come up with a new design. That was an amazing experience—pure design, this is what we love the most.”

The team from Tremend took design cues from the Vistula River, the longest river in Poland which runs through Warsaw. “Its’ wildness, surrounding nature and golden sand inspired the hotel’s interiors,” she said. “I remember from my childhood when I would stand on the side of the river and look at the golden sand, surrounding green and endless of water,” she said. “This scenery was brought to our interiors with a selection of finishing materials and a combination of colors. Hence, when you look closely, you can see brass imitating coastal sand. We wanted to connect the calm of nature with metropolitan energy.”

While nature was at the center of the design, Federowicz-Boule said that they made sure that it was environmentally friendly. “Ecological design is one of our principles,” she said. “When creating public facilities, we always think how to reduce their carbon footprint. During working on this project, we partnered with brands that focus on the environment and sustainable development.”
