NATIONAL REPORT—Just in time for the summer travel season, hotels are opening up in New York and New Jersey. From longstanding brands to boutiques with an indie vibe, here’s a look at what’s new:

Hotel Indigo Williamsburg Brooklyn to Open in July

Valor Hospitality Partners plans to open the 187-room Hotel Indigo Williamsburg Brooklyn in the heart of Williamsburg, a neighborhood in Brooklyn, NY. An InterContinental Hotels Group property, the luxe hotel is slated to open in July and will be Williamsburg’s newest boutique hotel, with contemporary architecture, sleek interior design, a dual-level restaurant, open-air sundeck and nearly 20,000 sq. ft. of flexible event space.

Accommodations will incorporate elevated finishes, hardwood floors and spa-inspired bathrooms. There will be 25 suites, including bi-level Loft Suites and a 1,100-sq.-ft. Williamsburg Grand Suite. Some rooms will have large balconies, with views of the neighborhood and the Manhattan skyline, just across the East River.

Luxury Waterfront Retreat Arrives New York’s The Hamptons

Gurney’s Star Island Resort & Marina, the newest waterfront retreat in the Hamptons on Long Island, NY, has officially opened.

Among the resort’s highlights are luxury accommodations, four distinctive restaurants, outdoor amenities and an array of private spaces for events centered around the water. Owned by George Filopoulos of Metrovest and Lloyd Goldman of BLDG Management, the opening of Gurney’s Star Island marks the brand’s third resort and second property in the area.

The design of Gurney’s Star Island stays true to the brand’s coastal aesthetic and origin, led by designer Stella Abdoulin. Inspired by its nautical history, the resort showcases a neutral color palette and maritime elements through the 107 guestrooms and public spaces.

Asbury Ocean Club Hotel

Asbury Ocean Club to Open This Summer

Asbury Ocean Club Hotel is slated to open this summer, offering a boutique experience on the waterfront of Asbury Park, NJ. The 54-room hotel is set on the fourth floor of Asbury Ocean Club, a luxury residential building set to open this summer. The effect is a beach hideaway in the sky, with views of the water or dunes from the terrace of every room.

Developer iStar acquired 35 acres in the city and has spent more than $300 million on its efforts to date. It is the force behind a 10-year, multibillion-dollar redevelopment plan for a 1.25-mile stretch along the Asbury Park waterfront that includes The Asbury Hotel, Monroe condominiums, and the newly reopened Asbury Lanes, a bowling alley-turned music venue christened by Bruce Springsteen last summer.
