Valor Hospitality opens Cloudland resort in North Georgia

Valor Hospitality Partners has opened Cloudland at McLemore Resort Lookout Mountain, Curio by Hilton, in Rising Fawn, GA.

The North Georgia property is located at 2,300 ft. of elevation among the 800-acre landscape of McLemore Resort and includes two Rees-Jones & Bill Bergin-designed golf courses, a clubhouse and practice facilities.

Developed by Scenic Land Company, Cloudland became the first hotel built on Lookout Mountain since the Great Depression, according to the company. Dallas-based FlickMars Interior Design collaborated with Scenic Land Company and Valor Hospitality’s design and development team on the design of the property.

“This project marks a pivotal point in Valor Hospitality’s global portfolio expansion and our resort management in the North American market,” said Euan McGlashan, global cofounder/CEO, Valor Hospitality Partners. “Cloudland at McLemore Resort demonstrates our core values of innovation, dedication and a relentless pursuit of excellence for each and every single guest. It serves as a beacon of our unwavering commitment to shaping the future of hospitality and solidifying our position as a global leader in the industry. For me, it’s a personal triumph after being involved at McLemore for over 14 years and having started my career in the U.S., arriving here in the summer of 2000 as managing director of an independent luxury golf resort in Georgia. ”

The resort has 245 guestrooms, including 19 suites, and 20,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space, making it the largest project of its kind in the region, according to Valor. Amenities include four restaurants created by SAVOR, Valors’ F&B arm, a cliff-edge infinity pool, Selah Spa and the 24-hour Cloudland Fitness Center.

“Every portion of the McLemore Resort community has been intentionally planned and curated with excellence in mind,” said Craig Strickler, president, Valor Americas. “Our design team has meticulously woven together elements that cultivate a sense of belonging and connection and our commitment to excellence permeates every aspect of McLemore Resort, fostering an environment where impact, inclusivity and enjoyment converge seamlessly.”

Duane Horton, president, Scenic Land Company, added, “As we open Cloudland at McLemore Resort, the significance for the Lookout Mountain community cannot be overstated. This is the first hotel for the region since the 1920s, and our vision is to maintain the beauty of Lookout Mountain while creating an escape where people stay for business, celebrations and life’s best moments.”

Cloudland is the company’s second resort property in North America, joining the Lodge at Gulf State Park, a Hilton Hotel, in Gulf Shores, AL.
