UMusic Hotel Madrid to use 100% renewable energy

UMusic Hotels’ first hotel, UMusic Hotel Madrid, has contracted Endesa, a leading Spanish energy company, to supply 100% renewable energy as part of its sustainability policy. This alliance reinforces UMusic Hotels’ commitment to a greener future, setting a new standard in eco-conscious hospitality, according to the company.

The supply contract extends to fulfill all energy requirements for UMusic Hotel Madrid’s guest accommodations and programming at UMusic Hotel Teatro Albéniz. Approximately 780,000 kWh/year of renewable energy will be certified with Guarantees of Renewable Origin (GoO). This initiative is projected to avert the emission of more than 107 tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere by 2024, a carbon offset equivalent to the annual CO2 absorption capacity of 5,382 trees.

UMusic Hotel Madrid is dedicated to becoming a beacon of sustainable energy consumption, prioritizing high-quality service to guests with robust climate goals. The collaboration underscores the hotel’s commitment to promoting culture and sustainability through initiatives such as Endesa Music Lover, aimed at reducing the carbon footprint of music festivals and concerts.

In addition to this milestone partnership, UMusic Hotel Madrid has introduced a range of initiatives to further its sustainability objectives. These include a ban on single-use plastics, integration of climate-smart technologies for energy efficiency, timed lighting systems, circular supply chain measures and robust recycling protocols. Staff training and internal policies ensure the seamless execution of these sustainability efforts.
