Hotels open in NYC, Toronto and Philly

Recently opened hotels in the U.S. and Canada include a Ritz-Carlton in Manhattan, the first Ace Hotel in Canada and two Mint House properties in Philadelphia.

Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad
The 50-story Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad has opened in the North of Madison Square Park neighborhood of Manhattan.

Developed by Flag Luxury Group, the property was designed by Rafael Viñoly Architects, Rockwell Group, Lazaro Rosa-Violan Studio, Martin Brudnizki and SUSSURUS International.

The hotel’s 250 guestrooms include 19 suites, with an additional 16 one- and two-bedroom penthouse residences. The 2,100-sq.-ft. Ritz-Carlton Suite, located on the hotel’s 37th floor, features views of Manhattan, a private wellness room with a Peloton bike, separate living and dining areas, a media room and a 194-sq.-ft. walk-in closet. All guestrooms include bathroom amenities by Diptyque.

The hotel’s food and beverage program features culinary venues and in-room dining helmed by Michelin-starred chef José Andrés, and includes Zaytinya, a 140-seat restaurant designed by Rockwell Group.

Ace Hotel Toronto
Ace Hotel Toronto, the brand’s first property in Canada, has opened in the city’s historic Garment District. The 123-room ground-up project was designed by Toronto firm Shim-Sutcliffe Architects.

Anchoring the building is Alder, a seasonal wood-fired restaurant that will open for dinner service on Aug. 9, while the hotel’s rooftop bar and lounge, Evangeline, will open later this year.

Other features of the hotel include original artworks by primarily Canadian artists; an in-room vinyl collection curated by independent Toronto record label Arts & Crafts; and three multifunctional event spaces.

Mint House at The Ledger/Mint House at The Divine Lorraine Hotel
Mint House has opened two locations in Philadelphia—Mint House at The Ledger, a landmarked building directly overlooking Independence Hall, and Mint House at The Divine Lorraine Hotel, a 130-year-old landmarked property that was the first racially integrated hotel in America.

Additionally, as part of its partnership with EB Realty Management Corp., which owns The Divine Lorraine, Mint House will open a to-be-named 47-unit full building conversion in Philadelphia’s Old City neighborhood in the fourth quarter.

Mint House at The Divine Lorraine Hotel will feature the brand’s Shop Your Stay program allowing guests to shop their space’s decor and products from their phones and ship items home. As with all Mint House properties, apartments will feature full kitchens, living areas, in-unit laundry and contactless and mobile-first check-in.

Mint House at The Ledger features 40 apartments with full kitchens, dedicated workspaces and in-unit washer and dryers. The property includes a fitness center offering on-demand classes, a lounge, private workspaces and bookable conference rooms. The property was also the debut location for a partnership between Mint House and Public Goods, which will now be the brand’s standard bathroom amenities line.
